Dak Nong - In recent years, along with vocational training, Gia Nghia city has implemented many synchronous solutions to improve people's lives.

Helping people overcome difficulties

In the period of 2021-2025, the Gia Nghia city government has supported and replicated sustainable poverty reduction models. In particular, grassroots officials have visited each poor household to encourage and motivate them to participate in vocational training and have the will to escape poverty.

According to the representative of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Gia Nghia city, every year, basically the poor and near-poor people have participated in studying and attending activities on agricultural, forestry and fishery extension.

Mr. Le Hung Manh - Vice Chairman of Dak R'Moan Commune People's Committee, Gia Nghia City said: "Training classes and seminars have full information on agricultural markets, techniques for caring for coffee, durian, pepper, etc. to share and spread positively to workers.

From there, it helps people gain more experience and knowledge to participate in the production value chain, linking to raise livestock and produce agriculture effectively.

District and commune authorities encourage individuals and households with good economic performance to participate in helping and guiding the poor to study and create livelihoods.

The People's Committees of communes provide standard seed sources for the poor to produce and cultivate key products, typical of local strengths such as pepper, avocado, durian, passion fruit... according to VietGap, Global Gap, Organic standards.

From 2022 to present, Gia Nghia city has issued 1,946 health insurance cards to the poor and near-poor, with a total amount of more than 659 million VND.

With the emulation movement "Dak Nong joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind", Gia Nghia city has exempted tuition fees and supported study expenses for 280 poor kindergarten and high school students, with a total amount of over 200 million VND.

Vocational training opens the way for workers' future

Gia Nghia City Party Committee has issued Plan No. 57, setting out specific targets for poverty reduction. That is, striving to reduce the average annual poverty rate by 0.1%, and for local ethnic minorities by 1.3% according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2021-2025.

The Gia Nghia City People's Committee has strived to achieve and exceed the above targets. However, looking directly at reality, the Gia Nghia City People's Committee assessed that some households do not have the will to be self-reliant, relying on and waiting for the State's help.

Besides, the implementation of the National Target Program for the 2021 - 2025 period in the area is still confusing, the progress of capital disbursement is still slow...

Meanwhile, the guidance documents of competent authorities are not yet specific and clear, and the grassroots level does not have specific norms and criteria for implementation.

In the coming time, Gia Nghia city government will continue to mobilize and raise people's awareness of labor production, change their thinking and farming habits, and apply scientific and technological advances to agriculture.

In which, the "compass" is still vocational training orientation, associated with job creation for ethnic minority and mountainous workers.

According to the leader of Gia Nghia City People's Committee, when people have knowledge about farming, animal husbandry, and production, workers can hope to improve their income. From there, they can improve their lives, change the appearance of villages and hamlets, along with a Gia Nghia city with potential for development.
