On June 11, Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Lau led a working group to inspect the progress of two key transport infrastructure projects in Soc Trang City, including Ring Road I and Ring Road II.
At the scene, Mr. Tran Van Lau suggested that the People's Committee of Soc Trang City focus strongly on site clearance. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need to "know each household, grasp each situation" to find solutions for implementation. In which, priority is given to propaganda and mobilization of people to hand over the site, while flexibly applying social security policies to ensure the rights of affected people.
The provincial leaders also requested investors to review the contractor, if any contractor is behind schedule and the reason is subjective, they should boldly handle it according to regulations to ensure the completion of projects on time, serving socio-economic development and urban beautification.
The Ring Road I project (from Le Duan - Pham Hung intersection, Ward 8 to Tran Quoc Toan street, Ward 6, Soc Trang city) has a total investment of more than 580 billion VND, about 4km long. The project started in 2024, divided into 2 sections with 2 packages. Up to now, the progress of section 1 is 3.3%, and section 2 is very slow. The reason is that there are 69 households that have not received compensation and handed over the site.
The Ring Road II Project (from Pham Hung Street, Ward 8, Soc Trang City to National Highway 60, Phu Tan Commune, Chau Thanh District) has an investment of nearly VND612 billion, over 5.2km long. The total construction volume to date has reached about 56%. However, the progress is still slow due to the impact of 18 households not being relocated and the capacity of some contractors not meeting the requirements.
