In December 2022, the Hanoi People's Committee started the project to expand National Highway 6 by 21.7km through Ha Dong district (old) and Chuong My district (old), of which the section through Chuong My district is 15.8km long and Ha Dong is 5.9km long.
The starting point of the project is located at km14 in Ba La, Ha Dong district (now Yen Nghia ward); the end point is km38, Xuan Mai town, Chuong My district (now Xuan Mai commune).
The project has 5 construction packages, including items: Synchronous construction of roadbed, water supply and drainage, technical cable cars, lighting, trees, 8 road bridges, 1 newly built box culvert.
The project has a total investment of over VND9,590 billion, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, implemented in the period of 2022-2027.

According to Lao Dong's records in early December, in Ha Dong district (old), the site has not been handed over, currently only a small part is being constructed on public land and the intersection with Ring Road 4.
The section through Chuong My ward, Phu Nghia commune, Xuan Mai commune, the contractor is implementing construction at some locations with cleared land. However, the handover of " sticky rice and bean" land has significantly affected the construction work as well as the travel of people.
Information on the progress of the National Highway 6 expansion project, a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that regarding the bridge and culvert section, contractors are basically implementing construction, but the completed volume is still low.
As for the road (the expanded construction part), only about 1,955m of asphalt concrete has been paved with the sections and the technical infrastructure is synchronized. The sections have other land that is being paved with, embankments...

According to statistics, in Chuong My district (old), about 51.46ha/85.4ha has been handed over, reaching a rate of 60% (the area of public land and agricultural land on the entire route), however, the handover site is sticky rice and bean sprouts, not connected to the route, and there are technical infrastructure works and architectural works that have not been moved. The residential land has not been cleared.
Site clearance in the wards of Yen Nghia, Kien Hung, Phu Luong, Duong Noi (in the old Ha Dong district) is all behind schedule and faces many difficulties, such as: Land records in the wards are not synchronous, many cases of border encroachment, land use rights disputes; old data has not been updated on the situation of separation...
In addition, there are households subject to site clearance that have petitioned about the red line planning boundary, so they have not cooperated in investigating and declaring the counting.

To resolve the above difficulties, the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has issued a document requesting the City People's Committee to allow investors and measurement consultants to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and wards to conduct map surveys and make statements on the current status of plots as a basis for compensation and support for households and individuals with land within the site clearance boundary.
At the same time, coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and wards to speed up site clearance, especially focusing on determining the origin of land, confirming the population... For households that have investigated and counted, request the People's Committees of communes and wards to sign confirmation according to regulations as a basis for implementing the next steps.
The investor strives to complete the land acquisition and site clearance work by the second quarter of 2026 to hand over to contractors to complete the project in 2027.
