Accordingly, Ngoc Hoa Import-Export Company Limited in coordination with the Vietnam Environmental Incident Response Center (Sos Environmental Center) - Central region Representative Office has pumped oil in the containers of Cong Thanh 07 ship according to the approved plan.
The amount of oil sucked included about 30m3 of diesel (about 25 tons) in the containers in the ship's engine room and about 100 - 200 liters of oil in the container.
After sucking the oil, at the scene of the sunken Cong Thanh 07 ship, no traces of oil seepage or signs of environmental pollution were detected.
Currently, ship owners, cargo owners and authorities, insurance and appraisal units are continuing to develop plans to soon deploy the salvage of the sunken Cong Thanh 07 ship and the goods on the ship.
Previously, on the evening of May 25, the Cong Thanh 07 ship carrying nearly 5,000 tons of coal was on its way from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh (now Quang Tri) when it encountered an incident and sank at a depth of 40-50m, about 7 nautical miles from Vung Ang - Son Duong port (Ha Tinh province).
Before the ship sank, all 11 crew members on board jumped off the boat on a buoy, then were brought safely to shore by rescue forces and fishermen.
