Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a Decision on approving the aid for the project "Technical cooperation in the field of drainage to enhance resilience to climate change in Can Tho city" funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The project will be implemented from October 2025 to September 2028, chaired by the Department of Construction of Can Tho City, in coordination with the Department of Roads and Drainage of Fukuoka City (Japan). The total non-refundable aid capital is 384,683 USD (equivalent to about 9.14 billion VND), JICA directly manages and implements according to the provisions of Decree 80/2020/ND-CP.
The project's goal is to improve the city's capacity to sustainably manage the drainage and wastewater treatment system, including: building the capacity to plan to complete the wastewater collection system; improving the capacity to operate and manage existing wastewater treatment plants; organizing propaganda to raise public awareness of environmental protection and effective use of the drainage system.
The expected results after the project include at least 5 professional staff of the Department of Construction and related units capable of guiding the system management and maintenance plan; developing technical guidance documents on periodic inspection and maintenance; organizing at least 2 training courses to share documents for industry staff and implementing at least 2 propaganda sessions to raise people's awareness.
