Border district in Dak Nong changes, develops in all aspects

Dak Nong - After 50 years, Dak Mil has transformed from a poor, backward district to one of the most developed districts in Dak Nong province.

Overcoming difficulties and challenges

The German occupation victory on March 9, 1975 was the first major victory of our army in the Central Highlands Campaign. After this victory, our army stepped up the offensive and rebellion of the entire battlefield.

Mr. Doan Van Ky (residing in Dak Mil district) recalled: "My family and I moved from the Central region to Dak Mil district in the 90s of the last century. For nearly 30 years of living and working in this land, I have witnessed changes and development in all aspects here.

From late 1999 to early 2000, the district's road infrastructure has not been invested in or upgraded. There are still few schools and people's average annual income is still low. Many areas in the district have wild land, which has not been exploited or cultivated".

"Up to now, many important roads, schools... in the district have been invested in construction. Many farmers have improved their lives after many years of investing in agricultural production," Mr. Ky shared.

Mr. Le Van Hoang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Mil district, Dak Nong province - said: "After the liberation day, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Mil district have united to overcome many difficulties and challenges.

From a poor border district devastated by war, the locality has achieved many great results in all fields".

According to Mr. Hoang, up to now, the average income per capita in the district each year has reached more than 76 million VND. The poverty rate according to the new standard is only over 1%. Notably, 100% of the district's communes have met new rural standards. Dak Mil is striving to become a new rural district in 2025.

On the rise

According to the People's Committee of Dak Mil district, the economic growth rate has always been maintained at a high level, with an annual average of over 8%. The economic structure shifted in a positive direction.

The district has formed specialized areas for high-tech agricultural cultivation. Among them, there are key export products that have affirmed their brands such as coffee, durian, mango, etc.

There are 14 OCOP products recognized in the area. The appearance of rural and urban areas has changed and improved a lot. The occupancy rate of industrial clusters - handicrafts reached over 96%.

Mr. Pham Thanh - Secretary of Dak Mil District Party Committee - said that the locality's achievements today are a long journey of continuous efforts of the Party Committee, government and people in the district through the ages.

In recent years, the District Party Committee has always focused on building a clean and strong Party and political system. Thereby, meeting the requirements of equalizing tasks in each stage. The great solidarity bloc of ethnic groups is constantly being strengthened.

"In recent years, national defense - security, and territorial sovereignty have always been effectively implemented by all levels of government in the district. Dak Mil has been maintaining and building good foreign relations with Pechr Chenda district ( Mondulkiri province, Kingdom of Cambodia)". added the Dak Mil District Party Secretary.
