Through observation, in addition to the areas under construction, some sections are still waiting for site clearance.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc (Cam Duong ward) said: "In recent years, Lao Cai province has invested in many embankment projects on the banks of the Red River. According to other households, after the impacts of Typhoon Yagi in 2024, investing in building an anti-landslide embankment is extremely necessary. When completed, the project will help limit landslides, ensuring safety for households living along the banks of the Red River

It is known that the Red River section flowing through Lao Cai province is an area that often faces riverbank landslides, especially in low-lying communes and wards and along the river.

The Red River embankment project to prevent landslides is a key project to protect the lives and property of people living along the river from the increasingly serious risk of landslides.

The project is constructed by Corporation 319 - Ministry of National Defense, Dai An Construction Investment Joint Stock Company and Construction Joint Stock Company 568.

The embankment has a total length of 3,270 m, running along the right bank of the Red River, starting from the exit of Ngoi Duong stream, ending at Lang Giang bridge, with a total of 43 households needing site clearance.

The project has been under construction since February 2023, expected to be completed in December 2024, however, due to land clearance problems, it has not been completed yet.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuyen - Vice Chairman of Cam Duong Ward People's Committee said: "The local government has approved the site clearance work for 35 households, and 8 households are still approving the note. We strive to complete the project before September 15 so that the construction unit can complete the entire embankment line".

According to Mr. Tuyen, site clearance has encountered many difficulties due to the measurement and acceptance of maps encroaching on previously reclaimed areas. Therefore, the units had to conduct re-measurement to edit the map.

According to information from the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the construction contract has been extended by competent authorities until September 30, the completion time and handover for use in 2025.
