According to Lao Dong's records on December 3, many sections on Provincial Road 164 (An Binh - Lam Giang) are still littered with rocks and soil, and many locations have eroded negative and positive slopes.
In particular, in some areas, rocks and soil on both sides collapsed, covering the entire road surface. Currently, many machines and workers are urgently constructing, soon bringing the road to serve the people.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Nam (38 years old, Lam Giang commune) said that the road has been eroded since August 2024 and has not been cleared yet.
"Now, the only way to get to Lam Giang commune is to go around Khe Rong village, An Binh commune. However, the road is not only longer but also bumpy. I hope the authorities and construction units will soon level the road so that people can travel more easily," said Mr. Nam.
According to the representative of the Department of Transport of Yen Bai province, due to the impact of heavy rains in July and August, especially storm No. 3, many roads in Yen Bai province suffered landslides, causing traffic jams, including provincial road 164 (An Binh - Lam Giang) at Km4+800, which suffered landslides on the positive slope, causing traffic jams.
Immediately after the incident, the Department directed the unit to carry out regular repair work, mobilize machinery and equipment to dig and clear the collapsed land to ensure traffic on the route.
However, at Km4+800, there was a large amount of landslide. The construction unit had repeatedly cleared the road to ensure traffic, but the amount of mud and soil above the landslide continued to slide down, causing traffic jams and affecting people's travel.
Currently, the Department of Transport has advised the People's Committee of Yen Bai province to build a road to avoid the landslide area at Km4+800, Provincial Road 164 (An Binh - Lam Giang) to ensure traffic and safety for road users on the route.
Provincial Road 164 is an important traffic artery, connecting the An Binh, Lam Giang, Lang Thip commune clusters with the remaining communes of Van Yen district, and is also one of the routes connecting Van Yen district (Yen Bai province) with Lao Cai province.
