According to the reflection of local people and the press, recently, there have been cases of cattle being attacked while grazing freely in the forest area. The traces left show that they could be wild dogs (Canis aureus) or red Wolves (Cuon alpinus) - animals in Group IB on the list of endangered and rare animals protected under Circular No. 27/2025/TT-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
The Department of Forestry and Forest Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) requested the Dien Bien Forest Protection Department to coordinate with the commune government and related units to conduct an inspection and verification of the scene, and promptly take appropriate measures to both protect people and ensure rescue and conservation of wildlife according to regulations.
In case of determining the presence of wild animals as reflected in the information showing signs of harm or threatening people's property and life, the Forest Protection Department should coordinate with local authorities to apply handling measures according to Article 9 of Circular 27/2025, strictly prohibiting all acts of illegal hunting and trapping. At the same time, it is necessary to deploy propaganda and instruct people on preventive measures and not to encroach on natural habitats of wild animals.
In case of needing animal rescue, the locality must immediately contact the Department of Forestry and Forestry for support and professional guidance.
