On the morning of December 20, the Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board held a groundbreaking ceremony for the coastal road project from Van Luong commune (Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa) to Ninh Hoa town.
Mr. Tran Hoai Nam - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Head of Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board informed that Van Phong Economic Zone was approved by the Prime Minister for a master plan with a total area of about 150,000 hectares, located in Van Ninh district and Ninh Hoa town.
In March 2023, the project to adjust the general construction planning of Van Phong Economic Zone to 2040, with a vision to 2050, was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 298/QD-TTg with 19 functional zones.
In order to form the main traffic route connecting functional subdivisions, meeting the transportation needs of the area and completing the investment in the coastal road system to the North of the province, in December 2023, the Provincial People's Council approved the investment policy for the coastal road project from Van Luong commune, Van Ninh district to Ninh Hoa town.
The project has a route length of 20.478km, the starting point connects to Tran Hung Dao Street (north of Hien Luong 2 Bridge), in Van Luong Commune, Van Ninh District and the end point connects to the right side of National Highway 26B, at Km9+050 (actual route), in Ninh Diem Ward, Ninh Hoa Town.
The road has a cross-section of 30m across the entire route with a scale of 2 car lanes and 1 lane for non-motorized vehicles on each side. The total land area occupied by the project is about 78.47ha, of which Van Ninh district is about 51ha and Ninh Hoa town is about 27.47ha.
The project has a total investment of VND 2,031 billion, of which the central budget is VND 600 billion, with implementation period from 2024 to 2027.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized: "The project connecting Van Ninh district with Ninh Hoa town along the North - South axis will meet the transportation needs of Hon Khoi port area, contributing to sharing, reducing the load, reducing traffic congestion on National Highway 1, creating favorable conditions to attract investors to urban areas and functional areas along both sides of this route".
Mr. Tuan also especially thanked and acknowledged the support and consensus of organizations, households and individuals within the land clearance scope of the two projects who reduced their benefits to prioritize the development of the coastal road connecting Van Phong; at the same time, requested the investor, construction contractors, and supervision consultants to speed up the project implementation progress to ensure the progress and quality requirements set forth.
