Quang Tri - Quang Binh energy pellet factory is reported to generate noise, smoke, and dust, affecting workers' work.

Prolonged noise causes fatigue

Over the past time, the Quang Binh energy pellet factory (located in Hon La Economic Zone, Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province) has been complained about due to dust, smoke and noise affecting workers.

According to reflections from workers of Hoang Long Titan Mineral Processing Joint Stock Company (Hoang Long Company), these problems appeared clearly after the Quang Binh energy pellet factory went into operation nearby about half a year ago.

At the scene, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the chimney at the Quang Binh energy pellet factory emitted a high column of smoke, the wind carried the smoke straight into Hoang Long Company. The noise was very loud when reporters stood next to the wall separating the two companies. When sweeping the floor, dust appeared a lot, and some objects resembling wood chips also appeared.

A worker, Head of the Mechanical and Electrical Department of Hoang Long Company, said that previously the health and working conditions of workers were quite stable because the production line at the company operated according to a closed process.

However, since the Quang Binh energy pellet factory started operating, noise from the engine is emitted with great intensity, affecting the technical area where he works.

At times, the engine noise is too loud, making it very difficult for workers to concentrate. Working for a long time in such an environment makes many people feel stressed and tired.

According to this worker, not only the production area but also the workers' rest area is affected by noise due to the quite close distance between the two factories.

Workers need to rest to recover their health, but the continuous engine noise makes it difficult for many people to rest, and their spirits are tense.

In addition to noise, dust is also a problem that makes workers upset. Workers informed that previously dust almost did not appear in the working area. But when the adjacent factory went into operation, dust continuously sticked to computer equipment, telephones and technical equipment even after cleaning. According to workers, dust appeared with a higher frequency during strong winds.

Hope to resolve it thoroughly soon

Another worker also said that smoke emitted from the chimney of the Quang Binh energy pellet factory is said to affect health. Every time the factory operates, smoke follows the wind straight to the working area of Hoang Long Company.

Workers said that loud noise also causes difficulties in communication between workers during work.

Mr. Trinh Thien Loc - Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Hoang Long Company said that in the past time, the company has reported the situation of noise, dust and smoke to the Quang Binh energy pellet factory, but the handling has not been thorough.

Previously, workers talked normally and could still hear clearly, but now many times they have to speak very loudly to be able to exchange with each other" - Mr. Loc said.

According to Mr. Loc, the above environmental factors are said to affect the health, living and psychology of workers.

Workers really hope that the Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and functional agencies will soon intervene to have solutions to handle it, helping workers feel secure at work" - Mr. Loc said.

Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Quang Binh energy pellet factory admitted that some environmental problems are arising during operation.

According to the factory representative, previously the Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board had organized a working session between the parties to discuss handling plans and the enterprise is currently implementing remedial solutions.

Regarding the situation of smoke flying to Hoang Long Company, the factory said it is developing a plan to raise the height of the chimney to limit the impact.

For fine dust in the air, the enterprise is coordinating with the monitoring unit under the Department of Agriculture and Environment to determine the source of occurrence.

In addition, the amount of shredded bark gathered in the area near Hoang Long Company is also determined to be able to spread dust when encountering monsoon winds. The factory is committed to relocating this amount of bark to another location before June 10, 2026.

Regarding noise, the factory representative said that the unit has invited specialized agencies to conduct actual measurements. Initial measurement results show that the noise in the area near the fence is higher than the regulated level of 70dBA.

Currently, businesses are researching solutions such as building noise-resistant walls to reduce the impact on the surrounding area.

Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board said that they are continuing to work with relevant parties to handle the case.
