On February 6, the inspection team for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term in An Giang province inspected Phu Quoc and Tho Chau special zones. The delegation was headed by Ms. Ly Anh Thu - Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Member of the Provincial Election Committee, Deputy Head of Inspection Team No. 1.
At the working session, Phu Quoc and Tho Chau 2 localities reported on the results of the implementation of the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. Accordingly, in Phu Quoc, 63 election teams were established with 63 polling stations with 1,135 members. The preliminary list of 60 candidates for the People's Council of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone II term 2026-2031 has been compiled. Up to this point, the list of voters by polling station has been completed with a total of more than 97,000 voters.
On the side of the Tho Chau special zone, 5 Election Teams were also established, with 5 polling stations in self-managed teams and armed forces units. There are 36 candidates; the public listing of voters at 5 polling stations has been carried out with 1,972 voters.
At the working session, Phu Quoc and Tho Chau special economic zones said that after the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, a large number of workers from the mainland will come to the island, and at the same time, a plan has been developed for temporary residents to exercise their voting rights.
The Tho Chau Special Administrative Region will hold elections 1 week in advance and request support for ships to bring ballot boxes back to the province for vote counting.

Speaking at the conclusion of the inspection, Ms. Ly Anh Thu - Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of An Giang province - acknowledged and highly appreciated the election propaganda work, the locality has mobilized the entire political system to participate in election propaganda work in many rich and diverse forms; the security and order situation is stable.
The two localities have also identified the number of voters and visitors, and at the same time predicted the situation and proposed plans. Ms. Ly Anh Thu also suggested that it is necessary to promote the role of the head, be decisive in management and direction. Note that it is necessary to recruit people who have experience in election work.
It is proposed that the Provincial Department of Home Affairs urgently open a training class on election work for Phu Quoc and Tho Chau, focusing on necessary skills such as writing documents, how to count votes, to ensure that the election process takes place smoothly and without errors.
