Supplementing knowledge of breeding cow farming
One day in mid-May 2025, from early morning, more than 100 poor and near-poor people in Ea Ho commune, Krong Nang district (Dak Lak province) were present at the headquarters of the commune People's Committee.
Here, the People's Committee of Ea Ho commune opened a training course on breeding female cows to support the development of community production.

Ms. H' Mari (residing in Buon De, Ea Ho commune) said: "The family is a poor household in the commune, having to raise a 6-year-old child. The couple is busy with hired work every day. However, the money earned is still difficult to cover their living expenses.
At the training class, Ms. H' Mari was shared by teachers, teaching knowledge about caring for breeding cows and how to prevent diseases for livestock.

"When I receive support cows from the State, I will take good care of them so that they can breed more breeding cows. Raising cows is the best livelihood and motivation to help families escape poverty. In the area where I live, many families have escaped poverty thanks to breeding cows, Ms. H Mari happily said.
Mr. Vo Ta Ba (officer of the Livestock and Veterinary Station of Krong Nang district) is one of the people who regularly goes to the grassroots, trains skills, and takes care of livestock for the people.

Mr. Ba said: "During training sessions on how to care for and build barns for breeding cows, I have been teaching very carefully. When training ethnic minorities, I incorporated real-life images into the lecture.
In particular, the textbook must be close to practical life, easy to learn, easy to remember. Thereby, helping people to see and hear the process of raising cows properly before receiving livestock".

According to Mr. Ba, the training sessions often last all day, lecturers have to concentrate highly, constantly reminding people to concentrate.
When the people received the cows, they started taking care of the commune cadres, village heads, and hamlets, and had to go to their homes to monitor and provide additional support. From there, it is possible to contribute to promoting the effectiveness of national target programs.
Ready to support when needed
Mr. Phan Quoc Viet - Head of the livestock and Veterinary Station of Krong Nang District - said: "When the District People's Committee implemented projects to support livestock breeds under the National Target Program 1719, the station coordinated with relevant units to organize technical training classes. At the same time, provide guidance on how to build barns, take care of and control diseases before giving breeding cows to the people".

According to Mr. Viet, this method helps equip farmers with knowledge to have a good understanding and prepare the conditions before receiving breeding animals for raising. Thereby, helping cattle prevent epidemics, grow well, and bring long-term economic efficiency.
Not only breeding cows, many poor people in the district also raise goats, rabbits... to develop the economy. To contribute to realizing the dream of poverty reduction of the people, the unit also equips and trains commune-level veterinary staff to directly guide, advise and provide additional support to the people.
There are cases where poor people travel dozens of kilometers from Dlie Ya commune to the district center, to the unit to seek advice on how to treat and prevent and control diseases for breeding cows. For these cases, the unit is ready to provide immediate support.
"Every month when meeting the grassroots board, I always encourage my Veterinary staff to constantly improve their knowledge and learn more experiences to support people when needed," Mr. Viet added.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the entire political system, in 2024, the poverty rate among ethnic minorities in Krong Nang district will decrease by 3.82%.
By 2025, the district aims to reduce the poverty rate by 1.5 - 2% according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2021 - 2025. Of which, the poverty rate among ethnic minorities will decrease by 3 - 4%.
