As Lao Dong newspaper reported in mid-October 2024, in addition to the old Phong Chau bridge, there are still many bridges located on provincial roads that are old and weak due to many years of not being repaired and upgraded.
Some weak bridges can be mentioned such as Tu Cuong bridge on provincial road 315 in Van Xuan commune, former Tam Nong district (now Van Xuan commune), Tay bridge on provincial road 325 in Tien Kien commune, former Lam Thao district (now Xuan Lung commune), both bridges must prohibit trucks weighing over 13 tons.
Or, the White Bridge on provincial road 323 in An Dao commune, former Phu Ninh district (now Binh Phu commune) is also having to put up signs prohibiting trucks weighing over 13 tons. This bridge, located on the Lo River dike road where there are a series of wharves and yards, has a very high density of trucks.
Another bridge larger than the above-mentioned bridges is Luong Nha bridge, this bridge spans the Lat stream, located on provincial road 317 connecting the two old Thanh Thuy and Thanh Son districts, which has been damaged and degraded for many years and often limits load capacity. After the Phong Chau bridge collapse incident on September 9, 2024, Luong Nha bridge even had to ban all cars from circulating.
Although only about 1.6km upstream from Luong Nha bridge, on the project road to renovate and upgrade the traffic road connecting National Highway 32 with National Highway 70B of Phu Tho province to Hoa Binh province (old) - a new Ngoi Lat bridge has been built, the travel demand on provincial road 317 through Luong Nha bridge is still very large, and the construction of a new bridge is urgent.
Currently, the Department of Construction of Phu Tho province is preparing to invest in building many new bridges such as: Tu Cuong bridge (at Km2+316 provincial road 315), Giap Lai bridge (at Km19+845 provincial road 316), Thia bridge (at Km4+403 provincial road 315B), Dinh bridge (at Km8+60 provincial road 320D), Ke bridge (at Km17+785 provincial road 323G) and Luong Nha bridge at Km21+350 provincial road 317).
In addition to a series of weak bridges on provincial roads that will be newly built, Phu Tho is also preparing to invest in building a new Song Lo bridge in Doan Hung commune. The Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board is the unit currently preparing to invest in this important project.
Regarding the above-mentioned bridge construction projects and other important transportation projects, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Quach Tat Liem requested departments and branches to prepare carefully in investment work, ensure the efficiency of using public investment capital, and exploit the potential and advantages of each region well.
