Will implement many key projects
On December 7, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City informed that 2024 is the second year the locality will implement (Resolution No. 72/2022/QH15) on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for city development.
The City Party Committee and People's Committee have led, directed, and organized the implementation of specific and synchronous mechanisms and policies in all fields and have achieved a number of positive results.
The City People's Committee has coordinated with departments and branches to advise the Provincial People's Committee to propose investment policies for projects using official development assistance (ODA) capital and preferential loans from foreign donors.
Notably, there is the Urban Development Project in the Eastern region and along the Ea Nao - Ea Tam stream corridor. The total expected investment in this project is more than 8,000 billion VND.
Up to now, the city has proactively coordinated with provincial departments and branches to advise the Provincial People's Committee to receive and explain comments on project appraisal from central ministries and branches.
Thereby, it is expected that by the end of 2025, the project will be approved by the Government in terms of investment policy and implemented from the beginning of 2026.
Currently, the City People's Committee is submitting to competent authorities for approval the contractor selection plan for the project "Adjusting the General Planning of Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province to 2045".
Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Van Hung, Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee shared: "Although many initial results have been achieved when implementing the special mechanism, the locality still faces many difficulties and challenges in attracting businesses to invest.
Because the land area allocated for outside businesses to invest is not much. In addition, both industrial parks and clusters in the city have run out of land.
Focus on investing and upgrading transport infrastructure
According to Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee Vu Van Hung, the key task that the city's functional agencies aim for in 2025 to effectively implement the special mechanism is to promptly deploy and gradually complete key traffic projects.
Including road projects: Ton Duc Thang (with a total investment of about 565 billion VND); Buon M're - Buon Nieng road upgrade and expansion project (total investment of nearly 300 billion VND); Phan Huy Chu road project (total investment of 307 billion VND); May 19 road upgrade and expansion project (total investment of 474 billion VND)...
According to Mr. Hung, through a survey, 1 in 11 people in the city owns a car, leading to great pressure on the city's traffic infrastructure.
The above mentioned traffic projects, when completed, will be the axis connecting the city center to the surrounding satellites (districts bordering the city - PV). Thereby, reducing traffic pressure and traffic jams in the urban area during rush hours.
With the current speed of socio-economic development, the City People's Committee must have a longer-term vision in expanding logistics services to attract investment from outside to the area.
"The solution that needs to be done right now is to upgrade and improve the transport infrastructure in a synchronous and systematic manner," Mr. Hung added.
