Many areas in Phong Nha are deeply flooded

Quang Tri - Heavy rain caused many areas in Phong Nha and Le Thuy communes to be deeply flooded, traffic was cut off; the whole province recorded more than 3,600 households flooded due to floods.

On the morning of November 1, the People's Committee of Phong Nha commune (Quang Tri province) said that prolonged heavy rain caused water levels to rise in Phuc Dong village 3 and Cay Trung dam area (Phuc Khe village 1), with some points over 1m high. The government has put up warning signs, supported people to raise their assets, and limited travel to flooded areas.

On the same day, the People's Committee of Le Thuy commune informed that there are currently 176 houses flooded (Phu Tho 113, Mai Ha 23, Thach Ban 15, Tan Le 10...); Road 30 has a landslide on the slope of about 50m. Many routes such as Mai An Street, Provincial Road 564, inter-village and inter-hamlet roads continue to be flooded.

According to the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Quang Tri province, as of 6:00 a.m. on November 1, the rain was still generally 10-50mm, in some places over 100mm; the flood of Gianh River fell below BD1, Kien Giang River in Le Thuy at level BD2-BD3. The whole province has 124 flooded spots, 3,608 households/11,282 people were flooded; 103 schools/28,513 students were absent from school; 31 landslides; 518 households/1,558 people were evacuated.

There have been 4 deaths, 1 missing person, 3 injuries; more than 101.5 hectares of crops, 1,970m of canals, 2,000m of riverbanks, 31 damaged traffic points; 5.46 hectares of damaged aquatic products. Forces continue to put up signs, guard at the spillway, and proactively evacuate to ensure safety.
