In recent months, landslides and flooding have occurred in Phu Thien, Ia Pa and Po To communes (Gia Lai province) due to natural disasters, causing damage to many traffic works, damage to cropland, and serious impact on people's lives.
In Phu Thien commune, the landslide location on the East bank of Ia Sol river is about 300m long, 20m wide, located on route D72. The landslide has lost cultivated land, threatening the 110kV high-voltage power line running through and is at risk of further spread.

Previously, the project to prevent landslides on the East bank of Ia Sol River, phase 1, was approved for 900m, only 450m has been completed, the remaining 450m has not been implemented. The landslide section is currently under construction, while the construction unit is no longer able to continue the project.
For the spillway connecting village 1 to Mo Nang 2 village ( Ia Pa commune), the project was built in 2009, connecting from the center of Ia Pa commune to the residential area and the eastern production area. From July 2025 to now, this culvert has been damaged by floods twice, causing traffic disruption.

In particular, the impact of storm No. 4 in July isolated more than 614 households with 2,500 people. On September 6, heavy rain continued to cause flooding, causing the people of Mo Nang village to be isolated twice.
In the immediate future, the functional sector proposed temporary repairs with a budget of about 950 million VND; in the long term, it is necessary to invest in a project on a scale of a grade IV mountainous road, with a total capital of about 54 billion VND.
In Po To commune, the overflow underground project on DT666 route to Bi Giong village is also often deeply flooded, causing the two villages of Bi Giong and Bi Gia to be cut off. However, the structure of the road surface, slope and culvert is still guaranteed, no damage or erosion has occurred.
Through on-site inspection, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep requested localities to continue implementing natural disaster prevention and control work according to the motto "3 readiness" ( proactive prevention, timely response, urgent and effective response) and "4 on-site" (on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means of materials, on-site logistics).
Regarding the landslide location on the East bank of Ia Sol River, Mr. Tiep requested Phu Thien Commune to monitor developments, handle them appropriately and economically; coordinate with sectors to review and propose a comprehensive plan for final handling, ensuring long-term stability and traffic safety.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for advising on the announcement of an emergency situation at the landslide site; the Department of Finance reports to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and timely capital allocation to overcome the landslide.
For the spillway connecting the two villages in Ia Pa commune, Mr. Tiep directed the locality to urgently put up warning signs, put up ropes, and arrange forces to be on duty, not allowing people to pass to ensure safety during the rainy and flood season.
