Prolonged heavy rain in Muong Chien, Chieng Mai and Phieng Pan communes of Son La province caused landslides, forcing authorities to urgently evacuate many households to safety.
As of July 6, floods and landslides have killed 1 person and injured 2 others. Some traffic routes in Son La were also flooded with rocks and soil, causing local traffic congestion.
In Muong Chien and Chieng Mai communes, in recent days, the authorities have coordinated with local authorities to relocate the houses and properties of some households out of areas at risk of serious landslides.

According to the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province, up to now, there are still no accurate statistics on the number of damages caused by floods.
At the landslides, after receiving the information, the authorities coordinated with local authorities of communes and villages to mobilize human resources and machinery to repair the landslides. At the same time, support the relocation of houses and assets of families to other places to ensure safety.
Faced with the complicated developments of the flood situation, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province Nguyen Dinh Viet has requested departments, branches, sectors and authorities at all levels not to be subjective, closely monitor the developments of heavy rain, floods, flash floods, and landslides to promptly inform and warn people.
