According to the Management Board of the Investment Project Construction of Ho Chi Minh City Transport works, about 13:00 on the same day, while workers are using crawler crane to lift concrete blocks for pile pressing in the area behind the m2 abutment (under the bidding package to build overpass on Ring Road 2 - Right branch, phase 3 of My Thuy intersection project), suddenly the concrete block is tilted and slid out of position. At this time, the cable is pulling the load to make the crane lose balance and be overturned, the crane part poured horizontally, squeezed through the existing left -hand overpass, crushing the container truck cabin and a 7 -seat car running below.
According to the record, the container truck's cabin was dug, the 7-seat car was slightly damaged, and a section of the bridge railing was also warped. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Immediately after the incident, the construction contractor temporarily suspended the entire project, coordinated with the functional forces to organize traffic regulation and handle the scene. At 14:30 on the same day, the falling crane was relocated from the left branch overpass area.
The project management board requires the contractor to replace the broken railing section, and at the same time work with the vehicle owner and the traffic police to agree on the plan to compensate and repair the vehicle. The project is only constructed again after completing technical safety assessment.
The My Thuy intersection project (Thu Duc city) has a total investment of more than VND 3,400 billion, a key project to reduce congestion at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. Phase 3 of the project started construction in March 2025.
