According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, on some central routes in Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang districts of Can Tho City, at the time when students go to or leave school, many parents transport their children by motorbike, "ignoring" the need to wear helmets.

Most parents wear helmets when driving motorbikes, but the students sitting behind do not.
Notably, there are cases where parents carry 3 people on a motorbike, but the 2 people sitting behind still do not wear helmets.
Ms. Anh Thu (30 years old, Ninh Kieu district) shared that during rush hours, there are many vehicles on the roads, but many people still do not comply with traffic laws when participating in traffic, potentially causing traffic insecurity, especially dangerous for students.
“Every afternoon when I come home from work, I often see parents wearing helmets, but they don’t care about putting helmets on their children, while their children are young and can easily cause injuries if a traffic accident happens,” Ms. Thu worries.
When asked about the reason for not wearing a helmet for their child, one parent said that because they were in a hurry, they "forgot" to bring a helmet for their child. Another parent said that the distance from school to home was quite short, so there was no need for their child to wear a helmet.
Recently, the Traffic Safety Committee of Can Tho City has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of the city and the City Police to organize traffic safety propaganda for students at schools in the city.

In particular, propaganda about the causes and consequences of violations of speeding; driving in the wrong lane or road section; not wearing a helmet, driving abreast, driving a motorbike without a suitable driving license, and walking across the street without looking, aims to minimize traffic accidents.
However, many parents and students still ignore traffic regulations, especially not wearing helmets.
According to regulations, in case a driver of a motorbike, moped (including electric motorbikes), or a driver of a motor bicycle (including electric bicycles) violates road traffic rules (the driver or passenger does not wear a helmet/wears it incorrectly), he/she will be fined from 400,000 to 600,000 VND.
