On May 9, information from the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province said that it had just sent a document to agencies and units regarding the exploitation and use of Ham Rong Conference Center (Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa City).
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province agreed with the proposal of the Department of Construction on the arrangement of a part of the athletes of the high -achievement sports team, belonging to the Center for Training and Sports Competition (Sports) of Thanh Hoa Province, using the facility at Ham Rong Convention Center.
On that basis, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the following departments: Construction; Culture, Sports and Tourism; Thanh Hoa City People's Committee; Thanh Hoa Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center and related units to guide and urge the implementation of the next steps, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, Ham Rong Conference Center, despite being invested with a capital of more than 160 billion VND, has been abandoned for many years, with seriously degraded facilities.
The Ham Rong Conference Center started construction in December 2012 and was put into use in November 2014. The project, after many adjustments, has a total investment of more than 160 billion VND, using foreign preferential loans and about 10% domestic counterpart capital.
In 2015, the center was mobilized as a temporary workplace for the Thanh Hoa City Party Committee and People's Committee. In 2019, after the new offices of these two units were completed, they moved, causing the Ham Rong Conference Center to stop operating.
In 2020, Thanh Hoa City continued to use this location as a centralized quarantine area for COVID-19 prevention. After a short time of use, this place continues to be abandoned.
By May 2022, in order to avoid wasting land and assets, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee has planned to arrange 5 provincial-level units to work at the Ham Rong Conference Center, expected to be implemented before the third quarter of 2022.
However, after that, no agency or unit took over and worked here. The project continues to be abandoned until now.
It is known that also related to Ham Rong Conference Center, recently, Thanh Hoa Provincial Inspectorate has proposed to the Nghi Son Economic Zone and Industrial Zones Construction Investment Project Management Board, together with the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa City, according to assigned functions and tasks, to provide information and documents related to the investment process of Ham Rong Conference Center project (Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa City).
The inspection was carried out according to the document of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Affairs of Thanh Hoa province.
