On November 25, Mr. Hoang Nam - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province confirmed that the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency for landslides in the Hung Vuong road area in village 3A (Khe Sanh commune, Quang Tri province).
Previously, on November 16 and 17, in Quang Tri province, there was prolonged heavy rain, causing landslides that broke and collapsed part of the house at 74 Hung Vuong Street and more than 10 neighboring houses. The landslide and slide area is about 170m long, the slope is 15m deep, 30m wide, the total area is about over 5,000m2 and there are signs of continued landslides.
Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee was forced to urgently evacuate 10 households with 45 people at risk of being unsafe.
According to Mr. Hoang Nam, the province requested the immediate implementation of emergency measures to minimize damage, including: cordoning off dangerous areas, placing warning signs, arranging guards, controlling vehicles; evacuating households in high-risk areas; mobilizing military, police, medical forces, means and response materials.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned Khe Sanh commune and the departments of Agriculture and Environment, Construction, Provincial Police... to coordinate in monitoring the landslide developments. Urgently survey the safety level and possible existence of housing projects in landslide areas as a basis for implementing protection projects, preventing landslides or urgent evacuation from dangerous areas to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and stabilize long-term life.
