On November 25, the Ha Tinh Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Management Center said that the unit coordinated with Ha Tinh Traffic Construction Management and Construction Joint Stock Company and related units to mobilize machinery and human resources to fix the landslide at Km84+700 of the coastal road.
Mr. Tran Van Tung - Director of the Ha Tinh Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Management Center - said that the clear weather has created conditions for the authorities to assess the safety level and agree to implement the handling of landslides.
According to calculations, it is expected to clear about 40,000m3 of landslides. Due to the large amount of rock and soil, the road clearance will be carried out in sections.

The construction force is in the immediate future opening the way for excavators and excavators to reach higher locations, where many orphaned rocks are waiting to fall onto the road. After handling dangerous points, the unit plans to create a retaining wall or temporary stone cage system to prevent rocks from rolling down to the construction area.
Mr. Tung assessed that the work of handling the landslide site this time is very complicated because the hill area above has many cracks after a long period of heavy rain.
"We cannot determine the specific time of road opening. The goal is to handle it safely and as quickly as possible to soon restore traffic," said Mr. Tung.

In the long term, the authorities plan to dig down the hill from the top, lower the slope and build a retaining wall system about 300m long to ensure sustainable safety for the entire route. However, this option requires a large amount of funding when it comes to handling up to 280,000m3 of rock and soil - many times higher than the current volume of landslides.
Currently, the clearing work is still being continuously implemented, the Ha Tinh transport sector affirmed that it will make every effort to soon open this coastal route.

As Lao Dong reported, heavy rain in the previous days caused complete traffic congestion at Km 84+700 of the coastal road of Ha Tinh in Ky Xuan commune on the morning of November 4.
On the same afternoon, when the construction unit was leveling and releasing the landslide block to clear the route, the mountain suddenly continued to slide, tilting a excavator and a truck. As a result, 2 workers (one excavator driver and one truck driver) were injured and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
After the incident, the Ha Tinh Department of Construction directed the implementation of road closures to ensure safety. During the road closure period, vehicles are allowed to divert and be guided to the bypass route.
The coastal road of Ha Tinh through Ky Xuan commune has many hills and mountains, and there have been some landslides before.
