A representative of the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport) - the investor of the project to upgrade and expand bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1, said that the contractor is ready to start the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project on January 16.
Construction of the new Deo Ngang tunnel with a length of 555m is one of the items of the project to upgrade and expand bridges and tunnels (Xuong Giang, Gianh, Quan Hau bridges and Deo Ngang tunnel) on National Highway 1 with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND.
According to the representative of the Compensation and Site Clearance Council of Ky Anh town, the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project is identified as a key project. In the past, the locality has coordinated with relevant units, departments and branches to carry out site clearance work.
To date, the locality has completed the inventory, determined the origin of the land and issued a notice of land recovery for 26/26 affected households with an area of 5.55 hectares of agricultural land. Thereby, it has issued specific land prices for agricultural land, organized price determination and publicized compensation plans for 23/26 households with agricultural land.
At the end of December 2024, the People's Committee of Ky Anh town issued a decision approving the first compensation, support and resettlement plan for 22 households, with an area of 3.17 hectares.
Up to now, we have completed payment for agricultural land for 19 households with a cost of 4.5 billion VND and are continuing to implement payment for the remaining households.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport approved the project to upgrade and expand bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 with a total investment of nearly VND2,000 billion, including the Deo Ngang tunnel expansion project.
The new 555m long tunnel is built to the west of the existing tunnel with a width of 10.5m, including 4 lanes.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025. When completed, Deo Ngang tunnel will operate 2 parallel tunnels with a total roadbed width of up to 20.5m, with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motorized vehicles.
The project to build Deo Ngang tunnel and bridges and access roads to the tunnel has a total investment of more than 516 billion VND, constructed by Song Da 10 Joint Stock Company (Song Da Corporation).
