According to information from the authorities, the incident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. on June 1.
People discovered a girl holding a baby, sitting alone on Tran Hoang Na bridge (in Hung Loi ward, Ninh Kieu district) with a sad face, so they called Hung Loi ward police.
Immediately afterwards, the police force quickly arrived at the scene.
Through initial investigation, the girl stated her name was L, 22 years old, married and had a 6-month-old child. She said that she was temporarily residing in Hung Phu ward (Cai Rang district), so due to conflicts with her husband, she became bored and had wild intentions.
However, during the contact, the police discovered many suspicious signs from the statement and behavior of this woman.
Using professional measures, the police conducted identity verification.
The verification results showed that this girl was born in 2003, from Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province. Currently, L is renting a room in Hung Phu ward, Can Tho city.
Notably, from 2021 to now, L has repeatedly committed similar acts: appearing on bridges, showing suffering, making passersby think she intended to commit suicide, so she stopped to advise them.
L took advantage of the pity of many people to profit in some localities in the provinces: Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho.
Currently, the authorities continue to clarify the incident.
Authorities also advise people to be vigilant, not to take advantage of kindness, and at the same time call on those in real difficulties to seek support organizations or authorities for timely help.
