4 years ago, when I started working at the Northeast Office - Lao Dong Newspaper in Hai Phong City. As soon as I got used to the filming process, in just August, I received consecutive job notices for 2 storms in Hai Phong City. In addition to the practical requirements, I also have to lead the scene.
For someone who has never been a leader like me, it is very difficult to directly guide information about storm No. 2 Mulan (August 2022). But it has also helped me overcome my own barriers to become more confident, gradually improve, learn more leadership experience and improve every day.
After a period of working at the Northeast Office, I have matured more, understood more about journalism and always been ready for work. For that reason, the trip to Co To (Quang Ninh province) in 2023 is also the "first vacation" that I cannot forget.
In July 2023, I took a leave of absence to experience a trip to Co To Island. The trip from Ao Tien International Ship Port and the ship to Co To Island went smoothly until the next evening (July 16), we received the notice that Co To island district was the first locality in Quang Ninh province where storm No. 1 Talim would make landfall. Passengers on the island must move to the mainland before 12:00 on July 17. At that time, I received the direction of storm No. 1 in Co To.
"I'm lucky to have brought my artistic items" - I breathed a sigh of relief when I received the instructions. Taking advantage of the work, the next morning, I went to record the situation and took the scene before leaving Co To port to return to the mainland.
Returning after the "first vacation", I understand more the advice of Ms. Hoang Hoan - Head of the Northeast Office "vacation still has to pay attention to local news" and help me have more "responsibility", always ready to adapt better to work.
A year later, while I was a reporter in charge of Nam Dinh province (old), I continued to receive instructions on the work of storm No. 3 Yagi in this province. From the experience of working with previous storms, without hesitation, my colleagues and I traveled to the coastal area - where many were devastated by the storm to record.
After Typhoon Yagi passed, Nam Dinh province (old) was a locality affected by floods, many areas along the dike here were flooded. A large flower growing area was submerged in water. The road was difficult, the two sides of the road were sewer systems without covers, but with the effort to convey accurate and fastest information to the headquarters, after many hours, I also approached and recorded success.
Then this year, recently the third storm of Wipha, my colleagues and I took on the task of working in Ninh Binh province and our hometown in Hung Yen.
At this time, I was 7 months pregnant, but with the responsibility of work and support from my colleagues, I moved to record the reality. At that time, the office leader directed but still advised "Do whatever you want, but remember to ensure the safety of the mother and child! ".
Every strong wind makes my motorbike wheelie, to ensure safety, I look for a rest stop, take notes at the stop, wait for the wind to stop, I continue going. The storm passed, luckily my hometown did not suffer much damage, my mother and I are still healthy to continue working together on all sides of the road.
4 years of working with Lao Dong; 4 provinces and cities where I stopped were also 4 stormy seasons I worked; amid the difficulties and hardships of natural disasters; I understand that each job is a time of maturity and there is no more valuable lesson than practical experience.
