On July 21, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duong - Head of the Management Board of the Lightning 68 Expressway Ship in An Giang said that the captain and crew of the ship promptly saved the life of a fisherman drifting at sea.
According to initial information, at around 5:10 p.m. on July 21, the Lightning 68-6 ship on the route carrying passengers from Hon Son to Rach Gia (An Giang) discovered a fisherman drifting at sea.
Mr. Duong Tai Duc - Captain of the Lightning 68-6 - said that when he saw people floating at sea about 100m from the ship, he decided to let the ship return to rescue. At this time, the crew and passengers used buoys to let the fishermen hold on and used ropes to pull them onto the boat.
Mr. Duc said that the fishermen's condition at that time was quite weak, exhausted from being soaked in water for a long time, the fishermen had to move up.
"We asked for a phone number, called relatives or news. Relatives also shared that they knew about the fishermen who fell into the sea while rowing a boat, and had also searched for them but could not find them. Luckily, the Lightning 68-6 ship saw and rescued them in time, said Mr. Duc.
According to the fishermen's story to the boat's crew, he was going by boat but was swept away by waves while traveling. After being rescued and boarded the boat, the crew cooked noodles for the fishermen to eat to regain their strength and the conversation helped stabilize their spirits.
After the boat docked, the captain and crew of the Lightning 68-6 boat handed over the rescued fishermen to the Rach Gia Border Guard Control Station for health check and information to the family.
