On the morning of October 11, Chairman of Tan An City People's Committee Vo Hong Thao said that on the same morning, the demolition of the project calling itself Khong Thoi Gian Eco-tourism Area built on rice fields in Huong Tho Phu commune, Tan An city, Long An province had been carried out by the investor.
According to records, at this location, trucks and cranes have entered and started dismantling wooden stilt houses, wooden pillars, and thatched huts... which were used by businesses as places for trading and serving food.
“The demolition of illegal constructions was carried out in accordance with procedures and regulations and under the supervision of the People's Committee of Huong Tho Phu Commune. The demolition was carried out by the business owner himself after being propagated and mobilized by all levels, sectors and localities, without using coercive measures. The City People's Committee directed the People's Committee of Huong Tho Phu Commune to supervise and ensure that the demolition was carried out seriously and the original state of the land was restored,” said Mr. Vo Hong Thao.
Regarding the handling of illegal construction on rice fields, Mr. Vo Hong Thao said that he has directed specialized departments and localities to review and inspect this matter. However, because this construction has been over 2 years, the statute of limitations for administrative sanctions has expired.
Previously, in July 2024, the owner of this illegal construction facility submitted a petition and documents requesting consideration for permission to invest and develop tourism on agricultural land at the above location. However, the People's Committee of Tan An City firmly responded, disagreeing with the proposal because the location of the above land is rice land, which is not in accordance with the provisions of the law.
In the reply, Tan An City People's Committee requested the investor to dismantle the violating constructions and restore the land to its original state before the violation. If the investor does not comply with the dismantling of the violating constructions, the competent authorities will conduct an inspection, make a record, and handle the violation according to the provisions of law.
As Lao Dong reported, recently, at the land plots at location 49, Hamlet 1, Huong Tho Phu Commune, Tan An City, a business has carried out a project and installed a signboard of the "Khong Thoi Gian" Ecological Area. This location operates a food and beverage business. However, according to the land use planning of Tan An City approved by the competent authority, the land plots in the above land plots belong to the rice-growing land planning. Also according to the general construction planning of Tan An City approved by the competent authority, the location of the above land plots belongs to the low-density residential land planning, and in the coming time, the area of the above land plots is in the construction planning of the extended Hung Vuong Street.
Based on actual records at the above location, in addition to the warehouse approved for construction in 2020 for use as a mushroom growing facility, in 2021, the business owner built a number of additional illegal structures on rice fields. Specifically, there are 8 wooden stilt houses, temporary wooden pillars, thatched roofs with an area of 20-30m2, 10 thatched huts with an area of 20m2, 2 thatched huts with an area of 100m2 used for trading and catering.
In addition, there is a hexagonal wooden hut, wooden pillars, and assembled tiled roof with an area of 10m2 used as a place for decoration and taking photos; a house with wooden pillars and assembled tiled roof with an area of 150m2 used to display wooden furniture and handicraft products.
