On September 30, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board (Management Board) - the investor of the La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway expansion project said that although the weather in recent days has not been favorable and heavy rain has lasted for a long time, the project's progress is still guaranteed.
The project is about 65km long, with a total investment of more than VND3,000 billion from the State budget. The expressway is designed to reach a speed of 60 - 80 km/h, with a scale of 4 lanes and a 22m wide roadbed.
The project includes a construction package, implementing items such as digging, roadbed construction, crushed stone aggregate, asphalt concrete pavement, etc. 50 bridges will be built along the entire route.
"Currently, the overall progress of the project is guaranteed. By the end of September 2025, the project will reach about 35% of the workload. If the weather is favorable, the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway expansion project will be completed in January 2026," said a representative of the Management Board.
Regarding the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway Expansion Project, the Management Board added that the project is currently in the survey and technical design stage. After completing the approval procedures, the bidding will be conducted.
Accordingly, the total estimated investment is about VND6,400 billion, including: construction costs, expansion, site clearance, traffic management system, rest stops, other costs and contingency costs.
The project is expected to start construction around October 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026.
Previously, in October 2024, the Government approved the investment policy for the North-South Expressway Expansion Project in the East, Cam Lo - La Son section, increasing the scale from 2 lanes to 4 lanes.
The route is about 98.35 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 6,488 billion.
According to the plan, the starting point of the project is at Km0+000 (Quang Tri province), connecting to the end of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway; the end point is at Km102+200 (Hue city), connecting to the starting point of the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway.
The investment scope includes expanding roadbeds, road surfaces and ancillary works along the entire route, ensuring synchronous technical infrastructure, meeting 4-lane standards.
