On the afternoon of December 31, representatives of the investor and the construction unit organized the technical opening of the Gianh bridge and Quan Hau bridge expansion package under the project to upgrade and expand some bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 section passing through Quang Tri province.
The package to expand Gianh bridge and Quan Hau bridge was started in February 2025, with an expected construction time of 18 months. However, due to the urgency of the project, along with the drastic direction of the investor, the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) and the efforts of the construction unit, Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, by December 31, the package was completed according to the committed schedule and technically opened to traffic.
Representatives of the investor said that to ensure progress, the contractor has organized "3 shifts, 4 teams" construction, overcome difficulties due to weather conditions, and focused manpower and machinery so that the project reaches the planned target. After completing traffic safety items and auxiliary works, the project is expected to be put into operation in January 2026.
When completed, the project will contribute to reducing the load on the two existing bridges that often experience traffic jams when there are traffic incidents, overcoming bottlenecks on National Highway 1, thereby promoting socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security of the locality.
