On July 14, at the opening session of the 39th Session (regular session in mid-2025), the People's Council of Lang Son province, term XVII, 2021-2026, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Tien Thieu reported to the People's Council the economic and social results of the first half of 2025.

Accordingly, in the first half of 2025, Lang Son's economy will maintain its growth rate in the context of many fluctuations.

The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of the year is estimated to increase by 8.37% (ranked 11/34 provinces and cities after the reorganization).

The province's state budget collection rate is high, but the provincial leaders also frankly pointed out many problems. Some budget revenues have not yet reached progress, and the development of enterprises and cooperatives is still facing difficulties.

According to Chairman of Ho Tien Thieu Provincial People's Committee, some key projects are still behind in site clearance, implementation and disbursement, affecting the overall progress of public investment.

The disbursement rate of capital for the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas is still low. The number of newly established enterprises decreased compared to the same period.

"2025 is the year of accelerating and breaking through to reach the finish line and complete the goals for the 2020-2025 term, preparing for the 18th Provincial Party Congress. The Provincial People's Committee will focus on promoting solutions to remove difficulties for businesses, improve the investment environment, and at the same time strengthen inspection and handling of projects behind schedule to avoid wasting resources," Mr. Ho Tien Thieu emphasized.

Another bright spot of Lang Son's economy is that border gate economic activities continue to be maintained stably.

The implementation of the Smart Border Gate Construction pilot project has been focused on, the border gate planning projects have ensured progress, creating favorable conditions for large projects such as the cargo transit area, export processing area, Tan Thanh (Vietnam) - Po Chai (China) tourism trade cooperation area.

Import-export activities through border gates, specialized roads, and customs clearance are still smooth. The Provincial People's Committee maintains an interdisciplinary working group, promptly handling arising problems, facilitating customs clearance of goods.

People's health care continues to be focused on. To date, 100% of communes and wards have met the national criteria on commune health; the province has an average of 11.5 doctors and 34 beds per 10,000 people; the rate of people participating in health insurance is 95%. Food hygiene and safety work is strictly inspected and monitored, no food poisoning cases occurred in the first 6 months of the year.

In addition to the achieved results, the provincial leaders affirmed their determination to continue to innovate, improve operational efficiency, and prepare the best conditions to complete the socio-economic development goals for the whole year of 2025.
