According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, the circulation of storms No. 10 and 11 caused large to very large-scale landslides on many key routes in Lao Cai.
As of October 10, there were still hundreds of landslides on National Highway 70, National Highway 4D, Provincial Road 157, Provincial Road 175, Provincial Road 174, Provincial Road 162... and some rural traffic routes in mountainous communes, leading to traffic congestion and cutting off in some areas.

Not to mention, many landslides are located on high slopes, continuing to have a risk of dangerous landslides to people and houses, causing thousands of households in communes such as Trinh Tuong, Dong Cuong, Phong Hai... to evacuate to ensure safety.
Immediately after the natural disaster, road management and maintenance units and contractors urgently deployed urgent solutions to soon reopen the route.
According to the reporter's records in recent days, on National Highway 32 from Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai, dozens of large and small landslides continue to appear.
Water from streams on the hills forms ditches, carrying rocks and soil onto the road, endangering people and vehicles passing by.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (in Yen Bai ward) said that at the end of September, her family traveled from home to Mu Cang Chai, and there were some landslides on this road, but they were small. Now the stream water flows into ditches and drains onto the road, the landslides are getting bigger and bigger, very dangerous.
"You can see with the naked eye cracks and huge rocks lying along the ditches on the positive slope, ready to slide down at any time," Ms. Hong worried.

On the former Son Luong - Nam Muoi - Sung Do road (now in Son Luong commune), which was only put into use in 2023, with a total length of more than 20km, with a total investment of more than 220 billion VND.
Up to now, the roadbed has seen many landslides on negative and positive slopes, the road surface has many explosive, cracked and broken spots, posing a high risk of traffic accidents, especially at night.

Mr. Le Hoang Nam (in Son Luong commune) said that every time it rains, the water flowing along the road from the mountain down is very difficult and dangerous to travel. The road is not lit, many large landslides are at risk of falling at any time, so people in the area are worried.
After the recent storms No. 5 and No. 10, people in the village were isolated because the roads were buried by landslides. In Giang Pang village, Lang Mang roads have not been completely concreted and there have also been hundreds of large and small landslides. Up to now, traffic is still extremely difficult.
Meanwhile, on Provincial Road 175 Son Luong - An Luong (section through Suoi Quyen village, Mo Vang commune), landslides caused isolation between villages and hamlets. The circulation of goods is difficult, cars cannot pass safely.

On rural traffic routes connecting villages and hamlets at risk of landslides, landslides have been urgently deployed by local authorities to approach isolated villages, supporting people to soon stabilize their lives.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Chairman of Mo Vang Commune People's Committee said that by the night of October 10, provincial road 175 through the area had basically been initially opened to traffic for motorbikes. Units are trying to ensure that by October 12, automobiles can travel safely through this route to trade goods.

Meanwhile, according to information from the Department of Construction of Lao Cai province, after the flood, the authorities and contractors quickly overcame the vulnerable points and landslides.
For landslides on negative slopes, road breaks, damaged roads, bridges, and embankments, units have developed emergency plans to repair, upgrade, and rebuild to ensure smooth traffic soon.
