The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just assigned the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to prepare a pre-feasibility study report to adjust the 4 bridge construction projects mentioned above for implementation in the period of 2026 - 2030.
Rach Doi Bridge
Rach Doi Bridge on Le Van Luong Street (formerly Nha Be District, bordering Can Giuoc District, Long An Province) was built before 1975 and has seriously degraded after many years of exploitation. The iron pillars are rusty and many locations have holes, while the traffic volume, including heavy trucks, is still moving through the bridge.
Below, ships and barges carrying materials often pass by, even large barges trying to weave under the bridge, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

The project to build a new Rach Doi bridge was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2016 with a total investment of 781 billion VND but had to be temporarily suspended due to budget difficulties.
According to the new plan, Rach Doi Bridge will be about 452 m long and 15 m wide (of which the approach road is 300 m long and 29 m wide). The cost of site clearance on the Ho Chi Minh City side is about 265 billion VND, while on the Long An province side (now Tay Ninh province) is about 85 billion VND.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that Rach Doi Bridge strives to start construction in 2026 and be completed in 2028.
When completed, the new Rach Doi bridge will help people in the area travel conveniently, increasing traffic connections for the South of Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh province through Le Van Luong Street.
Phu Xuan 2B Bridge
Phu Xuan 2B Bridge will connect with Road 15B (formerly Nha Be District) across Dia Canal to connect with Road 15B on the former District 7 side.
The project is about 660 m long, the bridge surface is 30 m wide, the total investment is about 754 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.

In parallel with the bridge, the project to upgrade and expand route 15B, over 3.5 km long and 40 m wide, will also be implemented with a budget of 644 billion VND.
Both projects are located in the 2026 - 2030 period, creating a new traffic axis towards Can Gio bridge in the future, helping to reduce the load on Huynh Tan Phat street.
Rach Cat Bridge and Ngang Canal No. 3
The area at the end of Me Coc and Phu Dinh streets (formerly District 8) still has to rely on two temporary iron bridges, Rach Cat and Rach Cat 2 bridges, for travel.
Rach Cat Bridge has existed since before 1975, is severely degraded, often shaken and makes a loud noise every time a vehicle passes, causing people to worry about safety.
Rach Cat 2 Bridge was built in 2014 to share traffic but is only a temporary structure.

The project to build a new Rach Cat bridge has been approved in principle by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council since 2015. The total adjusted investment is currently nearly 1,200 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance accounts for more than 751 billion VND.
The new bridge will be more than 1 km long, starting at An Duong Vuong Street and ending at Luu Huu Phuoc Street. The main bridge is 261 m long, 14 m wide; the approach road is 797 m long, 20 - 28 m wide.
Also on the Luu Huu Phuoc axis, Ho Chi Minh City will build Kenh Ngang Bridge No. 3 with a length of 400 m, a width of 10.5 m, with a total investment of about 350 billion VND, contributing to the completion of the connection in the Phu Dinh - Me Coc area.
