The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai (Tay Ninh) expressway project has a total length of nearly 51 km, a total investment of nearly 20,000 billion VND, divided into 4 component projects.
Of which, the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City is about 24.7 km long, passing through 5 communes including Phu Hoa Dong, Nhuan Duc, Thai My, Tan An Hoi and Cu Chi commune.
Component project 3 (compensation, support, and resettlement through Ho Chi Minh City) reclaims about 220 hectares of land, affecting more than 2,121 households, with a total compensation, support and resettlement cost of more than VND 4,333 billion.
Among the affected localities, Phu Hoa Dong commune has the largest number of cases with about 1,184 households and organizations, followed by Nhuan Duc commune with about 588 cases, Thai My commune with 255 cases, Cu Chi commune with 76 cases and Tan An Hoi commune with 18 cases.
On December 25, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City said that up to now, the entire project has paid 570 cases, with a total amount of more than 1,329 billion VND.
The rate of people receiving money is high in Cu Chi commune (nearly 79%) and Thai My commune (over 64%). In Phu Hoa Dong and Nhuan Duc communes, there are still many cases that have not received money, and localities are continuing to propagate and mobilize to create consensus.
To date, there have been 570 cases of site handover, with an area of about 80.892 hectares, reaching more than 37% of the total area to be recovered. Of which, Cu Chi commune is the locality with the highest handover rate, over 86%.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete compensation payments and hand over clean land in the first quarter of 2026, ensuring the project is implemented on schedule.

There are 254 cases eligible for resettlement land arrangement and about 178 cases of house construction on agricultural land.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Resettlement Area Infrastructure Construction Project invested by the Cu Chi Area Investment and Construction Project Management Board has completed important procedures such as planning, feasibility study report, environmental records and fire prevention and fighting appraisal.
The Department of Construction has submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval of the project. It is expected that by June 19, 2026, the resettlement area will be completed and eligible for land allocation for cases of land acquisition.
Previously, on December 19, the component project 2 of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, with an investment capital of about VND 2,422 billion from the budget, was started. The project includes 20km of service road through Ho Chi Minh City, more than 23km through Tay Ninh, along with 16 overpasses and 10 underpasses for people.
The main expressway is invested in the form of BOT (build - operate - transfer), with a total capital of more than VND 10,400 billion, expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2026 and be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027.
When completed, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway will contribute to reducing the load on National Highway 22, enhancing connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City's belt routes, creating a high-speed, safe traffic axis between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh.
The project is also of great significance in the formation of an industrial chain, Moc Bai urban area - Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Mep Port - Thi Vai, promoting the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh and the entire Southeast region.
