On May 28, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to reclaim a land plot with an area of over 3,500 m2, adjacent to the road to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, near the intersection of Bach Dang - Truong Son - Hong Ha (Ward 2, Tan Binh District).
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the revocation is carried out according to Clause 2, Article 82 of the 2024 Land Law, by the Southern Aviation Authority - the unit assigned to manage the land that has voluntarily returned it due to no longer having a need to use it.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned relevant departments and branches to coordinate with the Southern Airports Authority to urgently complete the procedures for handover and land recovery.

From 2023 to present, this land has been used temporarily as a parking lot for taxis and technology vehicles to reduce congestion at Tan Son Nhat airport, especially during peak times such as holidays and Tet.
This place plays a role as a waiting point for vehicles to enter and exit to pick up and drop off passengers, contributing to stabilizing traffic order at the gateway to the airport.
However, with the new T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport put into operation, the demand for using this land has changed.
Terminal T3 currently serves most of Vietnam Airlines' domestic flights, completely separate from the two existing terminals T1 and T2, contributing to clear passenger flow.
The number of visitors to the old area has therefore decreased significantly, causing the demand for taxis and technology cars here to decrease as well.
Inside the airport, there is still a lot of infrastructure to support picking up and dropping off passengers such as TCP bus company, domestic front lanes for private vehicles, taxis, technology vehicles and buses. Traffic diversion continues to be flexibly adjusted to ensure serving the increasingly high travel demand at the largest aviation unit in the country.
