In March 2023, the road project connecting provincial road 504 to Tho Xuan - Nghi Son road, Thanh Hoa province was approved by Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, with a total investment of more than 440 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

The project has a total length of nearly 6km, meeting the standard of a level III delta road, with a design speed of 80km/h. According to the design documents, the entire route has 2 bridges including the Yen River overpass and the railway overpass in Thang Loi commune.
After completion, the project is expected to form a traffic axis connecting the two old Nong Cong and Quang Xuong districts with National Highway 1A, creating motivation to promote local socio-economic development.
Representatives of the Thanh Hoa Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board said that after 3 years of construction, the project has completed about 75% of the volume.
Real-world records at the project show that the road has basically completed the foundation and road surface. However, the 2 bridges on the route are still under slow construction, and some items are interrupted.

In particular, the North-South railway overpass in Thang Loi commune has a total of 10 spans, with a length of more than 330m. Currently, the bridge only lacks one main span across the railway line, but this item has been suspended for many months.
According to a representative of the Thanh Hoa Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the reason why the main span of the bridge had to stop construction is due to railway signal information system problems, which has not been cleared.
Recorded at the scene, due to prolonged construction suspension, the steel system in the bridge area has appeared rusty.
Representatives of the investor said that the unit is coordinating with the Vietnam Railways Authority, People's Committees of Thang Loi and Quang Ngoc communes to complete site clearance and soon deploy the construction of the remaining bridge span. It is expected that by the end of this year, the project will be completed, handed over and put into use.
