On the afternoon of September 2, after the National Day holiday on September 2, thousands of vehicles from the Central provinces and tourist destinations flocked to Ho Chi Minh City, causing a long traffic jam on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressways.
The number of vehicles increased dramatically after the National Day holiday on September 2 to return to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the new working day, causing the highways to be overloaded, cars crowded, and lining up close together, many vehicles had to change their route to move to Ho Chi Minh City through routes such as National Highway 1, National Highway 51 (through Dong Nai province), causing these national highways to be congested.

At intersections such as Ring Road 3, Road 319 intersection, National Highway 51, Dau Giay intersection, vehicles are continuously divided into traffic flows, vehicles are not allowed to get on the highway, forcing them to take other routes.
According to records in Dong Nai, the increased traffic volume on National Highway 1 and 51 caused local congestion at some intersections. On National Highway 1, the section from the toll station on National Highway 1 towards Tra Co intersection (Binh Minh commune) is more than 3km long and is locally congested, making it difficult for vehicles to move.
Similarly, at some intersections on National Highway 51 passing through Dong Nai province such as the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway intersection, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection, there were also congestion, vehicles moved slowly.
