In recent days, on National Highway 12B through Thuong Coc Commune, Phu Tho Province (formerly Thuong Coc Commune, Lac Son District, Hoa Binh), a large sinkhole suddenly appeared, causing concerns about traffic safety for local people and vehicles traveling here.
According to the reporter's records, the sinkhole is located close to the edge of the asphalt road, with a diameter of about more than 3m and a depth of more than 1m. The road surface has been dug with a frog's jaw, creating a large hole under the road surface, posing a potential risk of further landslides if a heavy-duty vehicle passes through. A part of the edge of the hole has eaten into the foundation of people's houses, directly affecting their lives and daily activities.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on the morning of July 9, Mr. Bui Van Duong - Chairman of Thuong Coc Commune People's Committee - said: "This sinkhole has appeared for about half a month now. Immediately after grasping the situation, the commune authorities sent forces to the scene, stretched ropes and put up warning signs to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
According to Mr. Duong, the locality has dumped 8 trucks of soil and rocks into the sinkhole but it has not been filled because the subsidence is still continuing. "We are currently coordinating with specialized units to study a thorough treatment plan to avoid prolonged impacts on traffic safety and people's lives" - Mr. Duong added.

Notably, this area is located on a road with quite a lot of traffic, especially passenger vans and trucks carrying goods. However, many people are still worried because of the prolonged subsidence, the barrier is only temporary while the land in this area continues to show signs of weakness, and can collapse at any time.
