The Labor Federation of Bac Giang province presided over and coordinated with departments, branches and sectors to organize the 8th booth program for workers in 2024 in conjunction with launching the Peak Month to implement the campaign for Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods among unions and workers.
Mr. Mai Van Hung (worker of AGU Company Limited, Viet Tien Commune, Viet Yen Town, Bac Giang Province) came to the program before starting his night shift.Here, the male worker was given a gift of 500,000 VND in cash and some essential items.
In addition, he was also given a voucher to buy goods at the 0 VND booth. After receiving the gift, he stayed to enjoy the cultural programs."This is a very meaningful activity for workers in difficult circumstances like me.The gifts at the program help my family's meals to be more complete and nutritious," the male worker born in 1994 shared.
Mr. Hung's family situation is very difficult. The electric shock accident when he was young left after-effects that caused his health to decline. His parents are sick and often have to be treated in the hospital, which is very expensive. "My total income is about 7-8 million VND/month, so life is still very difficult and lacking" - Mr. Hung shared.
Not only Mr. Hung, many other workers in difficult circumstances were very touched when receiving gifts and free shopping vouchers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu (worker at Dinh Tram Industrial Park, Viet Yen town, Bac Giang province) shared that the booth program, especially the free booth, is very meaningful, supporting workers both materially and spiritually. She hopes that more programs like this will be organized.
Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Uong Quang Huy - Vice President of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union - said that up to now, 201/241 trade unions have implemented the "Trade Union Meal" program with 68,848/99,365 union members and employees participating.
The "Union Meal" organized by the units usually adds 1 to 2 dishes compared to the daily meal; popular dishes include chicken, pork, beef, bird, sausage, fish, shrimp, crab, soup, sweet soup, fruit, fresh milk, yogurt... depending on the regional culinary culture. The main source of support comes from the union's financial budget, the total amount of money to organize the "Union Meal" is more than 5.123 billion VND, of which, the source of professional support, union members, and employees contributed more than 2.125 billion VND; the source of support from the union's finances is more than 2.998 billion VND - Mr. Uong Quang Huy said.
Recently, the "Union Meal" held at Ung Hoa Power Company (Hanoi) had 86 meals, each worth 80,000 VND (an additional value of 50,000 VND/meal compared to the daily shift meal), in which the company's union supported each meal with 50,000 VND. Attending the "Union Meal", union members and employees enjoyed dishes such as boiled duck, stir-fried beef, crispy pork belly, duck patties, onion-marinated beans, boiled vegetables, crab soup, fruit for dessert...
Mr. Dang Dinh Ngoc, a worker of Power Management Team 2, Ung Hoa Power Company, shared: "I hope to continue to receive more attention from the Trade Union and the company's leadership, thereby helping employees always ensure their health, feel secure in working, producing, and staying with the company for a long time."
Create close and sustainable ties between employees and trade unions
Recently, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued a Resolution on "Focusing resources on taking care of the welfare of union members and workers in the new situation". The Resolution sets out the general goal by 2030 to build a policy system, focus resources of the Trade Union organization to take care of welfare in a synchronous, stable and long-term direction; mobilize social resources, contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of union members and workers, build a modern and strong working class. Create a close and sustainable connection between union members, workers and the Trade Union organization, attract a large number of workers to join the Vietnam Trade Union, build a strong and comprehensive Vietnam Trade Union.
To achieve the above objectives, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has set out 6 tasks and solutions. In particular, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proactively advises the Party and the State to develop and perfect policies and laws related to welfare care for union members and workers; allocate sufficient resources to ensure effective implementation of welfare care for union members and workers; develop and implement stable, long-term policies to care for union members and workers' welfare; implement diverse and effective welfare care activities for union members and workers such as continuing to pilot and replicate effective and practical care models such as "Union Meals", "Union Kiosks", "Union Sales Points", "Union Medical Examination Points", "Legal Bookcases in Dormitory Areas", "Workers' Cultural Activity Points"...; promote communication work to effectively serve the welfare care for union members and workers; Strengthen inspection and supervision of welfare activities for employees.
