The trade union promptly grasps the situation
In Ho Chi Minh City, in 2024, there were only 4 labor disputes, leading to collective work stoppages, a decrease of 3 cases compared to the same period in 2023. Binh Tan is a district with a large number of workers, including many workers from other provinces and cities coming to work. Therefore, timely grasp of the employment situation, life, aspirations and concerns of workers is an important task.
Thanks to timely information that Kyung Rhim Vina Company had to terminate operations, causing more than 350 workers to quit during the 2025 Lunar New Year, the Binh Tan District Labor Federation has coordinated with relevant agencies to introduce 150 employees to work at another enterprise in the same industry in the district. At the same time, each employee was also supported by the Binh Tan District Labor Federation and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation with 2 million VND and a Tet gift worth 200,000 VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Chairman of the Binh Tan District Labor Federation, Ho Chi Minh City - said that in addition to Kyung Rhim Vina Company, there are 2 other enterprises that have been dissolved, stopped operations or relocated elsewhere and 4 enterprises that have not given Tet bonuses to employees due to difficulties. The Binh Tan District Labor Federation has promptly taken care of union members and workers to ensure everyone has Tet, while propagating and explaining the law to workers.
Thanks to the good work of grasping public opinion and promptly taking care of union members and workers, 2024 is also the first year and the Lunar New Year 2025 is the second consecutive Lunar New Year in Binh Tan District without labor disputes leading to collective work stoppages.
Ms. Le Ha My Hong - former Chairman of the Trade Union of Kyung Rhim Vina Company - said that the workers were all happy because they were taken care of in time.
Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation Tran Doan Trung said that the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union always proactively grasps labor relations, coordinates to promptly handle arising issues, contributes to limiting disputes and ensuring security and order.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation held a conference with Party committees of districts, towns and Thu Duc City to discuss the labor situation and year-end salaries, especially in enterprises facing difficulties. At the same time, signed a coordination charter with the Party Committees of 22 districts, towns and Thu Duc City to strengthen leadership in labor relations management.
Grassroots trade unions are guided to coordinate with the government in implementing democratic regulations, promoting dialogue, negotiation, inspection of labor laws and legal advice for workers.
Accompanying authorities in promptly handling labor disputes
The Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor said that in 2024, the whole province only had 9 collective labor disputes with 10,373 workers participating.
The cause of the dispute is that the enterprise owes wages, social insurance, and the enterprise adjusts the salary increase, which is not clear. After the incident, the Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor and the direct superior trade union at the grassroots level promptly coordinated with relevant agencies and agencies to support mediation, dispute resolution, and stabilization of labor relations. During the Lunar New Year 2025, there will be no labor disputes in Binh Duong.
Mr. Luu The Thuan - Head of the Propaganda and Women's Union of Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed all levels of trade unions, in addition to organizing activities to care for union members and workers, to focus on visiting and grasping the situation of labor relations. The grassroots trade union strengthens dialogue and negotiation with enterprises to promptly resolve arising issues, preventing disputes and affecting security and order.
Notably, in recent times, the Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor has coordinated with departments, branches and local authorities to promptly handle labor disputes. The most recent record is the labor dispute that occurred at Hoang Sinh Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City) stemming from the company owing wages to workers.
After the incident, the Binh Duong Provincial Trade Union immediately negotiated with the enterprise and quickly supported workers in difficulty. At the same time, together with the labor sector, the police, the Industrial Park Management Board and the People's Committee of Thu Dau Mot City... will handle the case. Therefore, there should be no disorder here.
There are regulations on coordination between trade unions and local authorities
Previously, the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Federation of Labor signed coordination regulations for the 2024-2028 period to increase care for workers. Accordingly, the Federation of Labor will closely coordinate with departments and branches to solve problems related to labor relations, security and order at enterprises and industrial parks. This Regulation helps trade unions and local authorities handle arising labor disputes more effectively.
