In recent years, vocational training courses and job creation for rural workers in Dien Bien province have brought about practical results. Many households have succeeded in developing their economy by applying the knowledge they have learned.
Ms. Lo Thi Doan - Co Hon village, Xuan Lao commune, Muong Ang district - said: "Since participating in the class organized by the District Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center, I have learned the method of growing safe vegetables, improving productivity and product quality".
Applying safe vegetable growing techniques, Ms. Doan has turned her 700m2 garden into a significant source of income for her family. Thanks to proper vegetable care, choosing good varieties and planting in the right season, in addition to ensuring daily meals, her family also earns over 3 million VND per month.
According to Ms. Doan, since the training course, most households in the village now have clean vegetable gardens, some households have converted to commodity production models, thereby earning more income.
In recent years, vocational training classes on animal husbandry have also been promoted. In Ang To commune, Muong Ang district, many people have known how to apply knowledge and vocational skills to develop economic models suitable to real conditions.
Ms. Lo Thi Oanh - Cha No village, Ang To commune, said: "Since being equipped with knowledge about pig farming, I have confidently applied it in practice to develop a herd of pigs in a safe and healthy way."
According to Ms. Oanh, using agricultural by-products as food and implementing full vaccination have helped reduce costs and prevent diseases. From the batch of pigs that were just sold, her family earned more than 20 million VND. This success has motivated her family to expand the scale of farming.

Mr. Dao Duy Thach - Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Muong Ang district - said that in the first 9 months of 2024, the whole district created new jobs for 554 workers. Organized 18 vocational training courses on planting, caring for, processing coffee and preventing and treating diseases for livestock with 324 participants, most of whom are ethnic minorities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dien Bien province, in the first 9 months of the year, the whole province recruited 9,797 people for vocational training, of which 6,462 people received short-term vocational training support from programs and projects.
Along with opening vocational training classes, the whole Dien Bien province has also created new jobs for 9,001 workers. Of which, through the National Employment Fund, 1,903 workers; supplying labor to enterprises inside and outside the province for about 3,717 people; sending workers to work abroad under contracts for 198 workers.
“The national employment fund and the Social Policy Bank are very important factors in creating jobs for rural workers, especially ethnic minorities. Every year, tens of billions of VND are disbursed to support vocational training and expand employment opportunities for people,” said Mr. Son.
