Overcoming difficulties, investing abroad effectively
Implementing the policy of investing abroad to grow rubber, Viet Lao Rubber Co., Ltd. was established in 2005 in Champasak province, southern Laos.
Mr. Ngo Quyen - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viet Lao Rubber Joint Stock Company - recalled that in the early days, the company faced countless difficulties due to lack of facilities, differences in language, customs, weather and soil conditions.
Overcoming difficulties, from 2005-2008, the company planted more than 10,000 hectares of rubber, completing the plan 2 years ahead of schedule, the survival rate in the first year reached 98%, creating an unprecedented achievement for VRG. From 2011, the company put 1,642 hectares of rubber planted in 2005 at Bachiang I Farm into operation, achieving a dry equivalent output of 1,555 tons. To date, the entire area at 4 farms has been exploited.
In the period 2021-2025, the company exploited an average of more than 18,300 tons/year, always exceeding the plan assigned by VRG, making significant contributions to the overall output of the industry and being an effective and profitable unit investing abroad.
Improving the life and society of local people
In 2020, when visiting the rubber farms of Viet Lao Rubber Co., Ltd. in Bachiang district, many Lao workers said that thanks to working at the company, their family lives have improved significantly.
Mr. Tha Von, who lived in Vietnam for 10 years, speaks Vietnamese quite fluently and has been attached to Viet Lao Rubber Co., Ltd. for 15 years, then recounted: "Previously, people in 50 villages in the project area of Viet Lao Rubber Co., Ltd. mainly lived as nomads, income was very low, life was difficult. But since working as workers for the company, income has been many times higher than working seasonally outside, many families have bought cars, TVs, refrigerators, motorbikes... something that they have never had before.
By May 2026, the total number of employees of the company is more than 2,200 people, including nearly 2,000 Lao people, with an average salary of nearly 8.7 million VND/person/month. The company also participates in social insurance and health insurance, fully for all employees. Every year, the company invites Vietnamese doctors to provide free medical examination and treatment. The company also fulfills its obligations to the locality well, contributing about 105 billion kip to the budget each year.
With the achievements achieved in 2020, Viet Lao Rubber Joint Stock Company was awarded the noble title by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: Labor Hero of the renovation period (period 2009 - 2019), the Friendship Medal of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and many First, Second, and Third-class Labor Medals awarded by both Vietnam and Laos...
Recently, the company was also nominated for honor at the 2026 Glory of Vietnam Program thanks to its effective business activities, contributing to fostering Vietnam-Laos friendship.
