Got a new house thanks to the union
Difficult family circumstances, many years without stable housing, so the life of Ms. Ha Thi Binh, a member of the grassroots Trade Union of Kon Tum Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, is always struggling, short of everything. For decades, the dream of having a small spacious house to settle down and stabilize her life has always been her concern.
Understanding that situation, the Charity Social Fund to support union members and workers of the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation has supported Ms. Binh with 50 million VND to build a "Trade Union Shelter". With more valuable encouragement from the trade union organization, Ms. Binh and her family borrowed and accumulated more to build a new house.
These days, joy is evident on the face of the female worker when she was moved into a new house more than half a month ago. In the house still smelling of new paint, the cheerful laughter has replaced the days of worry and deprivation before.
Thanks to the support of the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation, I have the conditions to build a spacious house like today. My family has moved in for half a month now, everyone is happy and touched. I am grateful to the trade union organization for always accompanying and sharing with me in the most difficult times," Ms. Binh emotionally shared.
Not only Ms. Binh, recently the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation also donated 30 million VND to support the repair of "Trade Union Shelter" for union member Tran Thi My Ngoc, belonging to the grassroots Trade Union of Chim En Kindergarten. Ms. Ngoc's family in Dak Ro Wa commune has a house with the roof blown off and heavily damaged after the natural disaster, while economic conditions are still difficult.
According to the 2026 plan, the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation will continue to support the construction and repair of 30 "Trade Union Homes" for union members and workers in particularly difficult housing circumstances, especially those affected by natural disasters, helping union members settle down, feel secure in working and attached to their jobs.
Currently, the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation is managing 377 grassroots trade unions with 91,269 union members out of a total of 96,577 workers and laborers. According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation, programs to care for union members and laborers continue to be developed and completed, bearing the imprint of the trade union organization. Programs such as Tet Sum vay, Workers' Month are spreading strongly, mobilizing many social resources to join hands in caring for workers.
In the past 3 years, trade union levels in the province have allocated more than 168.2 billion VND to care for 273,830 turns of union members and workers. The "Trade Union Shelter" program alone has supported the construction and repair of 208 houses with a total budget of more than 8.9 billion VND, adding motivation for many families to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
Caring for from shift meals to the spiritual life of workers
Not only providing material support, the trade union organization also pays attention to caring for the spiritual life and improving the health of union members and workers through resort activities, sightseeing, arts, sports, periodic health check-ups, visits, and timely encouragement. These activities contribute to adding motivation and inspiring workers to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
Every year, on the occasion of the opening of the new school year, the Provincial Labor Federation also organizes commendations for 650 new students who are children of union members, civil servants and laborers who have overcome difficulties or achieved excellent results in their studies, with a total budget of more than 820 million VND.
Mr. Ha Van Hung - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of HD Hyundai Eco Vina Co., Ltd. said that in April 2026, the Executive Committee of the company's grassroots Trade Union selected 44 typical union members with technical innovation initiatives, actively participating in trade union activities to organize a sightseeing and tourism trip to Gia Lai. The company's Trade Union has also just coordinated with businesses to repair houses for people and workers in difficult circumstances. This is the 38th time this meaningful activity has been implemented.
With more than 7,000 businesses operating in the area, the need to care for workers' lives is becoming increasingly urgent, especially in the context of high work intensity and increasingly strict product quality requirements. Promoting the role of a bridge, trade union levels in Quang Ngai have proactively negotiated with businesses to improve the quality of lunch meals for workers. This activity continues to be promoted during Workers' Month 2026.
According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation, 102 grassroots trade unions have proposed and negotiated with employers to adjust the fixed meal rate from 20,000 - 36,000 VND/meal.
At Sumida Quang Ngai Co., Ltd. (Tinh Phong Industrial Park), the collective kitchen is strictly controlled, serving more than 1,100 employees every day. Mr. Vo Trung Quoc - a company worker shared: "I have worked at the company for 7 years and have not recorded any incidents related to food safety. A palatable meal is also one of the factors that helps employees stick with the company for a long time.
Mr. Dinh Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation said that in the 2025 - 2030 term, the Provincial Labor Federation strives to develop over 110,000 trade union members; and at the same time strive for 85% of enterprises and units with trade union organizations to sign collective labor agreements.
According to Mr. Tuan, based on the Resolution of the 1st Quang Ngai Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 2025 - 2030, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation has concretized it with many synchronous solutions; participated in contributing opinions and recommendations related to salaries, social insurance, and employment; and at the same time established channels to grasp information about labor relations to promptly handle arising cases.
Along with that, the trade union organization continues to promote the application of technology and digital transformation in legal advice, helping workers access information quickly and conveniently; strengthen dialogue and sign collective labor agreements with many clauses beneficial to workers, especially in terms of wages, meals and working conditions.
Welfare programs such as Tet reunion, Workers' Month, "Trade Union Shelter", loan support... continue to be effectively implemented, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of union members and workers.
