Try to solve difficult problems
According to a report by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), in December 2021, after some localities stopped social distancing, about 686,000 people returned from epidemic areas. Of which, Thanh Hoa had the highest number of spontaneous workers returning to their hometowns, with 175,700 people.
Through the review of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, the number of people returning to their hometowns is over 210,000, of whom 160,800 are of working age returning from the epidemic area, of which about 42,500 are workers who need to find jobs and vocational training in their hometowns.
These figures are a difficult problem for Thanh Hoa province. However, with the determination not to leave any workers behind, Thanh Hoa province has issued many plans to provide vocational training and create jobs for workers with the goal of 100% of people returning from epidemic areas of working age to be arranged jobs.
The Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor has coordinated with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to organize dozens of conferences to consult and introduce jobs for over 500 workers returning from epidemic areas in some mountainous districts; organize online job counseling for over 6,000 workers; coordinate with provinces and cities in the Northern region to organize many consecutive job fairs, connecting over 1,500 workers with businesses in need of recruitment...
Through the organization, 34,230 workers returning from the epidemic area have been given jobs in the area, mainly in the fields of agriculture, business, textiles, footwear, plastics, packaging, etc.
According to Mr. Vo Manh Son - Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, in 2021, the Provincial Labor Federation established a Fund to support union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers. The Fund has supported tens of billions of VND to help repatriated workers stabilize their lives and jobs soon.
Solving employment for workers, promoting union development
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh - Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor said that creating jobs for repatriated workers also helps increase the number of union members and grassroots unions. By 2022, the whole province will have 336,920 officials and employees, of which the total number of union members is 316,559, operating in 3,684 grassroots unions, an increase of 24% compared to 2018. Every year, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor always puts the development of union members as the focus, each year exceeding the assigned target. This result is thanks to the large number of repatriated workers, the development of local businesses and the enthusiastic support of unions at all levels.
If in the past, workers wandered around looking for factories, now many factories have moved to places with abundant labor resources and many factories are struggling to recruit, especially in the context of 2024, when the garment and footwear industry gradually recovers.
Two large Japanese footwear and garment enterprises headquartered in Le Mon Industrial Park (Thanh Hoa City) are recruiting more workers to restore and expand production. Of which, Sakurai Vietnam Co., Ltd. (garment sector) has recruited 1,267 more workers; SunJade Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. (leather shoe production) has recruited 874 more workers in the first 6 months of 2024.
In Hoang Long Industrial Park (Thanh Hoa City), two large leather shoe companies are also recruiting more workers. In the first 6 months of 2024, Rollsport Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. recruited 770 more workers and plans to recruit about 1,430 more workers from now until the end of the year. Similarly, Aleron Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. has successfully recruited 625 workers and is continuing to recruit about 1,000 more workers in the last months of the year...
Since the beginning of the year, in the province’s industrial parks and Nghi Son Economic Zone, 11 leather, footwear and garment companies have recruited more than 6,000 workers. 10 of these businesses are still recruiting more than 8,000 people in the last months of the year.
According to statistics from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, as of November 2024, Thanh Hoa has 37 foreign-invested enterprises (FDI), creating jobs for more than 170,000 workers.
South Fame Garments Limited Company went all the way to the mountainous district of Thuong Xuan to invest in a factory because of the large labor force here. With more than 1,800 existing workers, the company is confident in signing and proactively taking orders in the last months of 2024.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa province, the province has been encouraging garment enterprises to gradually shift their investment from processing to final product production, building their own brands to increase the added value of their products.
