Working for 6 years receives a salary of 7 million VND/month
Mr. Nguyen Viet Bang (34 years old, living in Hanoi) started working as a civil servant at a public service unit in Hanoi after graduating from university.
At that time, he received a starting salary of about 3.4 million VND, plus allowances, his total income was about 4 million VND. After 6 years, this figure increased to about 7 million VND/month. If he works overtime or does overtime, he will receive additional allowances.
Mr. Bang works in the field of water resource management, covering both surface water and groundwater. This is a job that requires many outstanding technical and management skills.
However, on August 1, 2024, he officially resigned, even though the leaders directly above him had repeatedly advised him. This is a brave decision, because he dared to give up a stable job with a periodic income to enter a risky business world.

The decision of the male civil servant to leave the public sector is a combination of many reasons. He said that his current job is no longer suitable for his time and work schedule.
In addition, the monthly salary is not enough to cover the spending and daily living needs of the whole family. He also hopes to have a clear path for career development in the future.
"There is no reason for me not to leave, to seek a new horizon, to open a new door. Therefore, leaving is not only for yourself, but also creates opportunities for others to take on the position, more suitable to their abilities and orientation" - Mr. Bang shared.
"Like fish in water"
After only a few months of preparation, on October 1, 2024, he joined a large private enterprise in the field of water resources, starting as a technician and with a salary of 15 million VND/month.
Working his skills correctly, he quickly proved his ability to the head of the department. Within just 3-4 months, he was promoted to the head of the sales department. Next, he took on the position of sales director, then became a senior consultant.
From a technical staff, in just 1 year, he became a leader, something that cadres, civil servants, and public employees in the state environment are unlikely to have achieved in a decade.
Mr. Bang emphasized: "When in the new environment, I feel like fish are in water. Capacity is directly recognized, salary is commensurate with effort and clear promotion opportunities. All results are recognized, no more to worry about whether the boss or colleagues do not understand you".

Along with the promotion, from June 2025, he opened TBD water and technical infrastructure joint stock company to operate in the field of supporting mining and other mineral exploitation services.
Thanks to its solid expertise and built reputation, the company quickly signed major contracts with industrial parks and enterprises, opening up a direction for sustainable development.
Before deciding to leave government work, Mr. Bang emphasized that the most important thing is to win for himself. Each person needs to wonder whether their current job is really their strength, whether it will bring long-term stability to enjoy old age and whether it will be a place for a long-term career settlement or not.
In particular, he believes that civil servants should prepare professional skills, learn more about management, information technology, AI or the necessary skills to enter the private environment.
State experience is a great advantage, helping to understand administrative procedures and relationships with agencies, thereby creating prestige with partners. When entering the private environment, capacity will be recognized as fair, worthy income and opportunities for rapid promotion.
He also warned: "Delaying is a big risk, especially for people aged 40-45. The decision must come from clearly defining the direction that is suitable for oneself, one's abilities and long-term goals".
