Ms. Nguyen Thanh Dung is a worker in Group 2, Garment factory, Chien Thang Branch - Company 19.5. Ms. Dung has been with the company for 19 years. Ms. Dung's house is currently in Hoai Duc commune. Ms. Dung has 2 children, the youngest child is in grade 6 at public schools, the eldest child is in grade 12 at private schools, and their education is quite expensive.
For the past 5 years, on the occasion of receiving September or October salary, Ms. Dung has received money from the company's welfare reward fund, the average month's salary payment for the first months of work in the year. In 2024, Ms. Dung received 10,200,000 VND. She uses this money to cover her children's needs at the beginning of the school year.
This money is meaningful and practical because at the beginning of the new school year, there are many fees collected at the beginning of the year such as books, clothes, school supplies, etc. We feel shared and encouraged; have more motivation to work with peace of mind and work more enthusiastically. This is the deep concern and understanding of leaders at all levels, of the company's trade union for the lives of workers" - Ms. Dung shared. According to Ms. Dung, this amount of money helps her "not have to worry about anything" every opening ceremony.
Ms. Do Thi Thu Trang - a worker in Group 5, Garment factory, Chien Thang Branch - Company 19.5 - said that at her house in Dinh Cong ward (Hanoi), she has 2 children, the youngest child is in grade 8, the youngest child is in grade 9. In 2024, Ms. Trang received 12 million VND from the company's welfare reward fund.
"My family currently has 2 children in high school, so the contributions are also huge, the money comes at the right time, in time to help the family reduce difficulties to take care of their children's education", Ms. Trang excitedly shared.
Ms. Trang added that the attention of the company and the union helps union members and workers feel secure in their work, creating motivation to complete the assigned work well.
Efforts to care for workers
According to Mr. Le Van Quyet - Chairman of the Trade Union of 19.5 Company, in recent times, the grassroots trade union has always strived to represent and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.
For the past 5 years, every time the new school year is opened, the grassroots union has proposed that the company's leaders spend from the welfare reward fund so that workers and laborers have more money to take care of their children during the new school year. Before the opening ceremony, at the end of each school year, the company and the union also awarded students for their academic achievements.
Excellent students are rewarded with VND 100,000/child; excellent students at school level are rewarded with VND 300,000/child; excellent students at district level (old) are rewarded with VND 600,000/child; excellent students at city level are rewarded with VND 900,000/child; excellent students at national level are rewarded with VND 1,500,000/child - Mr. Quyet said.
According to Mr. Quyet, at the opening of the 2025-2026 school year, workers and laborers are expected to receive money from the welfare fund in the October salary payment period, because the company has just paid labor protection support, at the rate of 5 million VND/person.
Mr. Quyet informed that Company 19.5 currently has 1,165 workers, including 1,137 union members; 28 probationary and probationary workers. At the end of August 2025, the company's trade union coordinated with the government to organize a Trade Union Meal for all 1,137 union members, and at the same time, gave social security gifts to many workers and laborers. At the branch of 19.5 Company in the Security Industrial Park (Son Dong Commune, Hanoi), the union presented 10 gifts to union members in difficult circumstances; presented "Union adopted child" welfare to a union adopted child.
