Industrial production flourishes
According to the Can Tho City Statistics Office, in the first 9 months of 2024, industrial production activities in the area continued to improve. Some key manufacturing industries such as rice milling; food processing; and garment manufacturing grew quite well, contributing to the industrial production index in the first 9 months of 2024 increasing by 8.02% over the same period last year.
The results of the survey on business trends of enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter showed that 35% of enterprises assessed it as better; 18% said they still faced many difficulties and 47% said the production and business situation remained unchanged.
It is expected that in the fourth quarter of 2024, 38% of businesses will assess that the trend will improve; 17% of businesses will still face difficulties and 45% will believe that the production and business situation will not change.
In the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter, 27.08% of enterprises confirmed that the number of export orders was higher; 16.67% said that export orders decreased. In the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the third quarter of 2024, 37.50% of enterprises expected an increase in export orders and 16.67% of enterprises expected a decrease.
The results of the survey on business trends of enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry in the third quarter of 2024 show that many enterprises are expecting domestic and foreign consumption markets in the coming time.

Ms. Dinh Thi Huyen - Worker at Tra Noc Industrial Park (Can Tho City) - shared that in the last months of the year, the company's export orders increased, workers worked 1-2 hours extra per day. This is the joy of her and many other workers. According to Ms. Huyen, if there is more overtime, overtime allowances, second shift meal allowances, etc., the income of female workers can increase by 30-40%.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City, in the first 9 months of 2024, the city is estimated to have granted new business registration certificates to 1,297 enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 11,314 billion, an increase of 1.33% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 21.75% in capital over the same period. The total number of employees working in Can Tho Industrial Parks as of September 2024 was 44,340, an increase of 3,575 employees over the same period in 2023.
