The Hanoi Employment Service Center has just released the Newsletter "Job picture for students in Hanoi". The newsletter is built based on survey data from more than 3,000 students in the third quarter of 2025. The publication provides a direct and multi-dimensional view of the actual capacity of the young capital's human resources, while pointing out alarming "vacuities" in practical skills and preparation for the labor market.
According to the survey, 84.6% of students consider the Labor Law important, but 74.27% do not clearly understand their basic rights.
Regarding specific knowledge: 48.27% know the maximum probation period according to the law; 51.42% know the case where employees are unilaterally terminated their labor contracts.
The Hanoi Employment Service Center believes that lack of understanding of labor contracts, social insurance, unemployment insurance... can cause many risks when going to work, especially internships or part-time jobs.
In addition, students do not know about official support channels: 84.48% do not know or are not sure about the city's job support policies; only 4.17% consider the Hanoi Employment Service Center as the main source of information.
The survey also shows that students are vague about labor supply and demand when only 33.41% are confident in understanding trends and industry competition; 39.17% admit to knowing very little/not knowing about human resource needs in Hanoi and only 38.85% proactively update news regularly.
Worryingly, students have not clearly distinguished between "job" and "career" because they still have the mindset of finding a short-term job instead of building a long-term career path. 49.64% have not/are learning about the career path; 53.1% "know the basics" of job requirements, but only 21.09% really understand.
