From July 2025, passengers departing from Cam Ranh International Airport can carry out domestic flight procedures without documents when traveling on flights of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air.
This is done smoothly thanks to the facial recognition feature (Face ID) integrated on the VNeID application.
Instead of presenting identification documents as before, passengers only need to use biometric data to authenticate their identity at the stages of the procedure.
The above process has helped shorten waiting time, simplify the process and enhance the travel experience.
The procedure consists of 3 steps.
Step 1: At the check-in counter, passengers open the VNeID application on their phone, select "Aviation procedures" and follow the instructions to complete the registration.
Passengers can also register for facial recognition directly at the counters: counters 19 and 23 for Vietnam Airlines passengers; counters 38 and 40 for Vietjet Air passengers and counters 44 for Bamboo Airways passengers
Step 2: At the T1 security checkpoint, passengers move to an area equipped with a biometric system, performing facial authentication.
After the identification system was successful and the doors automatically opened, passengers continued to the screening area.
Step 3: At the gate of the plane, passengers continue to authenticate using Face ID. The door will open automatically without scanning documents or contacting staff.
During the procedure, the authorities recommended that passengers need to update their VNeID account to level 2 electronic identification and ensure that the application is in the latest version.
Set up and update the airline's mobile application to support information confirmation.
Passengers should also bring valid identification documents (CCCD, passport...) to use when necessary in case the biometric system has a technical problem.
