Google recently started rolling out the “Notes with Gemini” feature for Google Meet. This feature uses Google-developed Gemini artificial intelligence to not only convert speech to text but also summarize the entire conversation or meeting.
Currently, this feature is only available on the web version of Google Meet, but it looks like it's coming to mobile devices as well.
Examining the app, experts found some code snippets that suggested a note-taking feature was being developed for the mobile version.
Based on the code, it looks like the mobile version of the tool will work similarly to the web version. And here are the features that can be expected:
Automatic meeting summary: After the meeting, Gemini will summarize the content and provide a full transcript, which is added to the shared notes document.
Integration with Google Calendar and Drive: This feature will integrate with Google Calendar and Google Drive, making it easy to save and share notes with participants.
Real-time tracking: During meetings, users will see notifications like “Gemini is taking notes” to know the status of the feature.
Currently, Gemini only notes for English; other languages may be added later.
And as appealing as it may sound, it's important to note that AI-powered summarization tools may not be completely accurate.
Those who have used speech to text converters know that it can have problems like background noise, different voices, and complex discussions can cause errors.
